On the back of this article by Martin Crowe, I think it would be good if we marked our expectations to the market here, and placed our bets on the "Young Fabbie" who is going to make it the biggest of the four.

I know people feel others like Rahane, Pujara, Ballance, maybe even Phil Hughes and Darren Bravo should be on the list, but let's keep ourselves to these four for the moment.

And I truly hope Kohli's magnificent recent ****ery doesn't get him too many less votes :)

Sorry, but don't get how Bravo was omitted from that conversation. From those mentioned, no idea. Kholi's shocking performance really dropped him in the eyes of some.

I have a 10 year bet with a friend (which gets over in 2012) on Williamson that he will turn out to be the best of this generation. Will stick my neck out and vote for him.

Bravo was omitted from the conversation because Crowe doesn't feel as though Bravo has shown one obvious weakness at some point, but not two.

If England continue to use Root correctly in Tests, and don't bump him back up to open, he could be a superstar. Needs to improve away from home, but his record at home is unrivalled. Average of 64, 5 centuries and 5 half centuries in 14 Tests against tough opposition. Love Rooteh.

I don't think the Sri Lankan and Indian bowling attacks count as overly tough opposition.

least convinced by Root among these mentioned. And you can hate me all you want, I still think Rohit will be good.
