***Official*** India in England 2014

That's horrible reasoning

I don't think India or England have a chance in hell against Oz with Dhoni and Cook as their captains

As such, they have nothing to lose by appointing someone else
How can you possibly think England have no chance with Cook? He has already beaten them.

No Hales would be a joke of epic proportions. Root really hasn't done much to keep his place in the ODI side either recently.

Hales
Cook
Ali
Bell
Morgan
Bopara
Buttler
Jordan
Tredwell
Finn
Gurney

Would be my line up, although Ballance has done well so dropping him is harsh we need to find those 5 extra overs from somewhere. Bowling is so weak though, even with Jimmy/Broad added back. The lack of a proper all rounder who can play 7 kills us - Stokes not good enough with the bat to do it yet but he'd be the obvious ideal one.

Gregory must be in OBVS, so that squad can't be legit. I hope Jimmeh is rested. Also think Parry should have a look-in. Really would be good if Woakes wasn't around, it's really not his game.

My Team

Cook
Hales
Vince
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Bopara
Willey
Jordan
Tredwell
Finn

Rest of squad
Lewis Gregory
Roy
Parry
Gurney
Bresnan
J. Taylor

Ali and Ballance would do better to play in the Championship. Moeen should be able to get a fair few overs in, without Ajmal.

This kind of thinking really grinds my biscuits. Here we have a bloke who's got the makings of a really good international player, who isn't inherently unsuited to any format and isn't in poor form, but people think should be kept to one format just because it's the one he's happened scored the most runs in this year. Smacks of tinkering for the sake of it and I think harms the overall structure.

So averaging 26 in your last 16 ODIs (last 12 months worth) should be discounted because he is doing well in Tests? Garbage, its thinking like that which means England throw out the same ODI line ups year after year because 'consistency. You pick players who are playing well in each format, its a joke that other players are doing fantastically in domestic LO cricket but because Root is doing great in Tests he is allowed back in to the ODI team to do very little.

For all the talk of Dravid bossing it in 2011, I think it needs reminding that he was our batting consultant for this series. I don't blame him for keeping a low profile, but that's as good an indication as any that this team might be beyond salvaging no matter who coaches them.

Fire them all and reboot the team. India - The New 52.
The New 52 Aquaman is soooo goood.

So I'd go:

Cook
Hales
Bell
Moeen
Morgan
Root
Buttler
Jordan
Tredwell
Finn
Anderson

But I suspect they won't play Anderson all games and will experiment a bit.

Brilliant, Bell will play in the middle-order. A place he's been utterly useless at for the whole of his ODI career.

Such a **** team that is to be honest, might beat India if there is a hangover from the Tests but the World Cup will be a debacle IMO.

Absence of Ravi is disappointing tbh. I don't mean a disservice to Woakes or anything but in ODers he doesn't offer anything that Ravi doesn't.

I think that's either light on bowling or too much offspin, depending on what role Moeen would have. Leaving out Bopara actually makes the side a fair bit harder to balance.

If Moeen plays as one of seven batsmen then he has to have a proper spinner's role as well, in which I'd play four seamers 8-11. If Tredders plays then I'd drop one of your top six for Stokes.
