*Official* Pakistan in Sri Lanka 2014

On the greatest Pakistani batsman debate, right now I have Inzi and Miandad ahead of the pack with Yousuf and Younis behind them. As far as the latter are concerned, while they have very similar stats, the numbers were achieved very differently. Yousuf had one of the ATG peaks but outside of 05/06 he was never a consistent batsman you could rely on as you could on an Inzamam. Yousuf didn't always crack under pressure as was mentioned above, after all his double ton against England in '05 came at a crucial point in the match, he merely pales when compared to the greats.

Younis has been a different story. Barring Inzi, Younis has been our only consistent batsman in the last 10 years. From '04 to '14, he's had one statistically poor year not counting '08. Sure he didn't have that incredible peak that Yousuf did, but I'd argue he's been much more of a match winner. I'd wager if someone were to break down their stats they'd find that over their careers Yousuf only fared better in 1st and 2nd innings on flatter decks. Despite MoYo's peak, I'm willing to bet Younis did better in most other conditions, especially late in close matches.

Perera neber had been the offspinner to destroy sides, rahter the second spinner who will chip away on helpful tracks. Currently with his **** batting he'smaking it easy for selectors to pick him only as the second spinner. If he manages to keep that average around 30 with good performances away home, then it would create a nice dilemma.

What's with players not going for reviews when they are going to be reset after 80 overs anyway? At least close ones against the big players? SL missed one when YK was plumb on 20 odd and Pakistan missed one when Sanga was plumb on something less than that. Hope he can capitalise on it like YK did though. SL need to bat at least another 4 sessions you'd imagine. Gut feeling is Pakistan will roll over quickly in the second dig.

As for the greatest in Pakistan debate...YK is on par with Inzy and Miandad IMO. Yousuf behind all of them by a small but definite margin. A grand total of 1 century vs Australia/SA combined and averaged <30 vs them! Had one brilliant series in England during his dream year but on either side of it he was strictly a good player as opposed to great.

I have Miandad still up there with Inzi, Yousuf and YK all a possible #2. Miandad isnt far ahead though.. If Younis hangs around for 10-20 more tests and keeps doing well he'd be my pick.

Man Ajmal bowling makes for exciting cricket, pretty funny how both batsmen seem pretty desperate not to face him

The art of patient batting on show here, see off the good bowling then capitalize when the bowlers give you one or two loose ones, this has been some good bowling on a docile pitch though

Silva wafted at a short and wide ball, then Sanga told him the inswinger was coming.. he was committed to playing the next ball and ended up edging a ball he should have left.

Sanga's fault.

If Pak gets a couple of wickets here everything changes. I think Vithanage and Dickwella have never faced Ajmal.
