Something completely different:
Many years back, with no internet around, when I started watching cricket, I had nothing but live commentary to get into cricket. Cricket means absolutely nothing in The Netherlands (only 5000 cricketers, half of them not Dutch). Nobody to talk so. so I felt I needed a way to be able if any score was at par. Hence I come up with a system that was helpful. Well, to me it was and sometimes still is:
50-1, 100-2, 150-3, 200-4, 250-5, 300-6, 340-7, 370-8, 390-9, 400 all out.
Now, I do understand this system is only helpful in limited situations, and I can see why some would think it absolute nonsense.

Yet, I am wondering: As India were 8-4, the last 6 wickets came at a fairly par amount of runs!
Thoughts?

Lyth to play at the Oval therefore ensuring that some scrub team beats us to the CC due to injuries to the rest of the squad.

400 is well above par, at least 80% of the time. I'm sure a team who bats first getting 400 on the board is going to be in front.

I suppose your system can work as a 'are they doing well' check

Haha in my childhood par in my head was 350 in the 1st innings, 450 in the second, 350 in the third and 250 in the 4th.

The 350 in first innings was divided into 60-1, 125-2, 200-3, 250-4, 275-5, 300-6, 313-7, 326-8, 338-9, 350-10.

Yes, there's little doubt, so far, that Robson is no better than Carbs or Compo, who both now have better averages. I think we'll still give him the full Summer. Probably rightly too.

As a batsman who is very rarely out caught, it just really ****ing grits my ****. Make the bowler clean you up, or bowl you one you can't help but snick. Slamming it down outfielder's throats is just tame and ****
