***Official*** India in England 2014

International Debutant
There have been some plusses this summer, no question. And you could add the batting of Ballance and Root, neither of whom were certainties back in May.
As you say, Buttler as Prior Mark 2 would be lovely, but we can't say anything yet. Bashing this Indian attack when there were already 450+ on the board doesn't tell us very much.
Moeen is interesting. If he can improve his batting as quickly as he's improved his bowling, then we're on to something. But at the moment he doesn't look like a top 6 test batsman to me.

If one or two out of Stokes, Woakes and Jordan do develop into genuine test bowlers who can bat more than a bit, then that's a great lower middle order. Still not convinced by Broad as an opener though. And the last couple of years or so suggest that Jimmy's performance this week is an annual event. Maybe age is becoming a factor in his case. It's a real shame the way Finn's progress has stalled. If he'd been handled properly, he'd be just what this team is lacking.
An annual event?

So basically, for the World Cup I'd be looking at:

1. Cook *
2. Bell
3. Ballance
4. Root
5. Morgan
6. Bopara
7. Buttler
8. Jordan/Finn/Rankin/Willey/Woakes/Gurney/Plunkett/Flintoff
9. Broad
10. Tredwell
11. Anderson

12. Seamer from above
13. Stokes
14. Moeen
15. Hales/Seamer from above

+ CK as a travelling non-squad member in case Jos breaks a finger.

I'd go Finn for Rankin and Jordan for Plunkett, Boyd's not bowled that well in white ball cricket this year, although has started the 50 over better than the T20.
Yes Rankin was bad enough for Ireland and Plunkett bad enough for Durham and Yorkshire in 40/50 overs stuff. Jordan and Finn have both done well in ODIs and are more suited to the format generally.

There was a camera in place there, but it is not clear if the camera was the ICC's or Nottinghamshire's or the host broadcaster's. At times in the past, during cricket in England, Sky TV has shown players walking out from just outside their dressing room all the way through the long room and corridors and onto the field. The commissioner heard that the said camera was not working that day. The BCCI is likely to pursue this issue.
Sure.....

I know. I wish there wasn't a camera, and then it would be all behind us, and that would have been perfect. But this kind of muddying the waters just makes everything a bit stinky-poo

Didn't people say that there was video evidence? I find it hard to believe that Jadeja simply made up an altercation, but proof is proof and I suppose there wasn't any. If Anderson pushes you, and you have a bat, next time defend yourself ffs. Or shut up.
Apparently the video device wasn't working properly.......

I find it hard to believe Jadeja made it all up, too. Yet, it's also hard to believe JA did whatever he did without any provocation. If only one out these two toddlers would have manned up, nothing probably would have happened.

It's a bit like football. One player says something rotten; the other pushes him, more or less accidentally touching something close to his face, upon which the first player dives to the ground as if he were punched in the face......

On the greatest all rounder thing and the genius that is Ravi Ashwin, I actually went through country by country and actually forgot Kallis.

Which I think says more about the way he played than my memory tbh.

Went to uni with a lot of them. And they were mostly arrogant ****s tbh.

But tbf they were all eastern suburbs, private school, dermo toss pot types. So my impressions were tainted.

How good is it to see India getting the "Nothing to see here, we didn't do anything wrong" treatment from England after they got away with that **** over Harbhajan in Sydney.

Expecting a threat to go home now

It is my understanding that Harbhajan said "Teri Maa Ki" (which basically means "Your mother's ......., the blank usually filled with "******", which is supposed to be understood even with an incomplete use of the phrase). The phrase is used in cases of anger, bullying, and redemption. Symonds heard this, quite understandably, as Monkey.

It's usage in parts of North India where Harbhajan comes from is very much the equivalent of "**** off".

Now, this may not be true, but this has been the account I have heard from my friends in the Indian media.
