***Official*** India in England 2014

We need some Lords like conditions to eb effective.
The best bit about this series is that it has proven once and for all that creating greentops isn't how you beat India when they are away. Just prepare a deck with good carry and bounce but not much sideways movement. Said it throughout the whole lead-up to the South African and NZ series.

Yeah agree. Basically the only way the Indian 'quicks' will be effective is if it's a green-top or low and slow reverse-tang stump to stump fest. Don't prepare one of them and you're sweet, not that hard really.

Nah, but it's definitely slightly weird for a test cricketer with near 100 games under his belt who bowled really well to go off at a newbie in particular when the day has already ended and you're dominating. It's obviously massively different when the play is on and you're doing it to gain an edge but he's just being a **** for the sake of being a ****.
I agree with this. Do what you gotta do on the field (and I think he should go harder at the inexperienced player) but don't carry on like a pork chop after the game is finished, especially when you've dicked them. As many have alluded too, Jimmy is just a wanker.

yup.

Some of my mates were saying it looks like another flat deck in the first innings. Well yes, it was flat but there was bounce so the likes of Rohit can't just drive through the line and it had decent pace.

Should be the default for beating India.

Of course, Moeen (wafg) compounded that by being awesome, but i think England probably still wouldve won without him.

Yeah if you want to bully India you put out a deck with pace and bounce. The green top theory is cray cray but will probably continue to be the status quo because aggression.

And the same applies in reverse (Mumbai 2012).

Edit: Though actually, that's kind of different because Swann and Panesar were class. Still think it applies in general though.

Yeah when NZ toured the Windies the first Test pitch was silly because it meant even Craig and Sodhi were a threat.

When you set up an experiment on a plate reader, one thing you make sure is to not set the gain too high otherwise everything will hit the ceiling and you can't see the difference between your controls and your variables.

Few extenuating circumstances to that though. Ajmal on a bunsen is going to win most games for Pakistan given their batting is ****e on most surfaces and there is a lack of quality spinners in WC IMO.

Really interested to see how Pujara goes against the rising ball. Think he's going to struggle personally, but would like to watch him do well.
Yeah I gave a feeling he's gonna struggle, a bit like this series where he has small starts and then gets out. IIRC Kohli scored a century at Perth last time, and given he played well at the Wanderers too it doesn't seem he is especially vulnerable against short stuff. Also interested to see how Rahane fares, he did well in SA, can he do the same in Australia?

Of course if there's an in-form Mitch running into you these questions become sort of redundant.

Nah didn't get a century in Perth, that was Adelaide. Was good in Perth though, just ran out of partners at the end and tried to get runs himself.

Pujara got runs in the second innings at Johannesburg and was run out by Kohli in the first innings.

That or send you on tour with them.

I think Australia is a chance (a hard chance considering the attack but) for him to get back in nick. He'll have plenty of chances to use his back foot game and, if Aussie err even slightly in line, stroke the ball sqaure.

Plus he has the composure to push through an MJ spell.
