I see Sachin fans are still going on about Sharapova.

This is Maria stressing about these sad idolatry keyboard-warrior morons as she lives her near perfect life.

Nadal out of Canada and Cincinnati and a doubt for the US Open. Suspect that's the end of any battle for year end number 1 now. Shame.

Don't we ask this question every year or so? Dating back to 2009 (or at least 2011). He's always got over his injuries in the past. Obviously that doesn't mean they won't ever catch up with him, obviously they will, but I think it's a bit hefty to question whether he'll ever win another grand slam.

After all, he's still the best at Roland Garros and miles better than all bar one.

yes but things are definitely getting tighter at the french and i have a feeling djokovic will break through next year…he has not played well on grass for some time now and on hard courts, there are a few players (other than djokovic and murray) who can definitely beat him on their day…combine that with these recurring injuries and it just feels like the window is closing in on him...

Nah he'll definitely win another one. But Roger's record is looking tougher. Needed to win this year's Aus really.

he might win another one at roland garros, sure…in any case this is a great window of opportunity for djokovic to add more majors to his collection…murray is still not back to where he was before he was injured, federer is definitely beatable on all surfaces and nadal has all these injuries...

Hope Nadal recovers soon, always a shame when a player gets injured. It's a bit too early to be asking if he'll ever win another GS again. Definitely has at least a FO in him IMO and possibly a hard court slam. I reckon he has 2 years of top quality tennis left(his game is too physical so he's not going to age as well as Fed) and with Federer making it known that he plans to continue at least till the 2016 Olympics, it's going to be a great 2 years for tennis. The next 8 slams could well determine where they end up. Obviously they are already among the greatest ever but I think if Nadal has to beat Federer's record, it has to happen in the next 2 years.

Federer of course has a chance to put the record out of Nadal's reach. See him doing well at the US Open. His major problem is HTH vs Nadal for various reasons. With Nadal seemingly out of the US Open, there is every chance Federer could go all the way. That Wimbledon final was incredible. I've never seen a 33 year old play so well(AA maybe but that is about it). Ever. And to think he nearly beat the current world number 1 in a 5 setter!

The current gap between Djokovic and Federer is probably bigger on hard court though (Djokovic's strongest surface compared to his weakest).

Tbh, I find it very hard to look past Djokovic for the whole rest of the tour. He'd been winning pretty much everything on the tour bar grand slams for the last 10 months and now he's got the Wimbledon title he might be more composed in future finals. With Rafa out for most of the rest of the hard court season and being less suited to indoors at Paris and London and Murray not appearing at his best for a year now Djokovic has a really good chance to equal his 2011 run IMO.

Will be a great indicator of whether the young generation are there yet though.

Yeah that is true, hard court is Djo's best surface and not only that, games on hard courts are generally longer than games on grass and that again works in his favour. I do think Fed will still do well though, if his form this year is anything to go by. He's playing better than he was for a good year and a half prior to the Aus Open this year. Given how well he went(when he was already 30+) vs Djo in God mode in 2011, I'm inclined to think it'll be close. Don't think Djokovic is still playing anywhere near that level..that was just inhuman. That year of his and Federer from 04-07 are the best I've seen anyone play on a tennis court.

Fancy Wawrinka doing well too, guy's hard court game has improved a lot. Agree about the younger generation too; Dmitrov and Raonic are more than capable of pulling off the odd upset.

Saw the first set, crazy. Easy to say in hindsight but Novak was pretty short considering how Monfils pushed him

Djokovic wants Cicinnati much more than this probably, I watched the second set and it didn't seem to me like he went full tilt. If he wins Cicinnati he becomes the first player ever to win all 9 masters(Federer is missing Monte Carlo and Rome, Nadal's missing Miami and another one I can't remember).

Come on Jo! Up a mini-break in the tiebreak. Can't remember the last time he won a Masters 1000. Gotta be at least 5 years.

Yes now 3 match points. Already had some but this time he'll have one on his serve if Fed saves the first 2.
