Or persevering with players past their best.I don't know the ins and outs of Rahane's domestic run tallies year by year but when you watch him bat and remember that ludicrous average he had in first class cricket before getting called up it makes you wonder why his selection took so long. They were playing Raina and Yuvraj ahead of him most of the time.
Amazing what happens when a talented players actually commits to their craft.30 months ago he was basically a part-timer for his county.
Now he has a 5-fer against what should be the best players of spin in the world. Amazing turnaround.
I know, England should just pick the side based on our faves. Now how do we get Ravi, Vince and Gregory in.Remember when we said how great it would be to have Moeen and Buttler both in the side?
Meh, not sure that was it. At Trent Bridge in 2011 they played Raina and Yuvraj and Dravid and Laxman retired after the Aus series, when they then played Raina and Yuvraj respectively for the next two series at the expense of Rohit, Rahane. Then they started the three spinners thing at Nagpur and against Australia. Easily could've played him for two years before Tendulkar retired.Or persevering with players past their best.
Not really. Dravid and Laxman retired immediately after the Australia series. Sachin stuck around for a year longer than he had to and I criticized him for it, but in hindsight I think his presence in the team must've allowed all the young blokes who had just come in together to have a nice mentor in the dressing room.Or persevering with players past their best.
