what i would very much like to see is these two batting until the last over tomorrow

and cook bopping mohammad shami over long on for six off the last ball to bring up his hundred

Not sure a declaration before tea would actually save any time. If India have say 420 to chase and they could actually do it then they'd get there in around 4 sessions. So you'd just be throwing this 40 minutes or so away anyway.

Nice to have the choice though, made possible by two really good partnerships, and Cook not overplaying his hand earlier
Just quickly on this, while it's true in some cases, it's also possible they'll lose early wickets and shut up shop (see SA at Adelaide and Cape Town v Aus) which means even a RRN of 3.5 is too high.

It's better than the "the root the root is on fire" chant the bloke in front of me tried to get going when he tonned up against the Kiwis.

And the declaration has come.

Good declaration that. Two cracks either side of tea with new cherry.

Or not. Me thinking they had declared early enough as clock on wall is slow.

Sounds like early tea (Agnew) then 3 hour session. Great play today from England, as close to perfect as possible so far.

Root such a talent.

Stunningly unfunny angle being beaten like Shergar.

If you bowl well enough to force them on the defensive like that, there's plenty of time either which way.

Pretty damn pleased with that. Great partnership

This should be a good test for how good Moeen actually is. This is a turning, bouncing deck that should assist him, so he could be a threat on here if he's going to have a Test future as a bowler. Hope he bags a few.

if he does, no one can then call him a part time spinner considering the Indians are probably the best players of spin going...
