if dhoni ever retires, that would mean the end of his "OILEZEEEEE" appeal. i hope that day never comes
It's iconic isn't it? If you were just given the sound of random test innings you'd alway know when India were bowling (particularly at home) because of the appeals.

Cooks striking at over 50 and accelerating......it's not like he's dropped anchor.

More benefit to us him getting these runs even if they aren't as quick as we might like.

50 partnership at a run a ball but Ccoooook and Rooooot are tooooo slooooooow
I know odd isn't it, Cook is accelerating okay now, not really sure what people expect. Part of batting again is to give bowlers a rest. We were never going to declare just after lunch.

Kakmal trumps him for the most distinctive keeper voice noise award imo

Not sure a declaration before tea would actually save any time. If India have say 420 to chase and they could actually do it then they'd get there in around 4 sessions. So you'd just be throwing this 40 minutes or so away anyway.

Nice to have the choice though, made possible by two really good partnerships, and Cook not overplaying his hand earlier

Another reason to enforce the follow-on... England are likely to have an elongated tea session here (up to 3 hours long) if they declare in 20 minutes or so (which it looks like they may fanny about doing by the looks of it)

To be fair though the upside is you don't lose overs for change of innings by declaring within 30 minutes of tea. Whether England would actually get the overs in anyway would be debateable.

The "Root, Root, Root" chant is still terrible. People genuinely thought it was the Indian fans booing him at Lords.
