Yep, I am happy with Moeen as our spinner for the time being. Its his batting against the short ball that is becoming a bit of a concern, but if we are playing Woakes at 8 then that matters very little as he is as good as any number 8 in world cricket.

Is there anyone in world cricket who uses more bottom hand than Dhoni? If you cut his top hand off I reckon he'd be able to bat exactly the same. So, so ugly. Hope we get him out soon.

I had kinda thought that Kohli and Pujara were a class above the other young batsmen around the world (Root, Williamson, Rahane, Bravo and can't think of anyone else), but is it possible that they're coming back to join the leading pack?
In L/O I think he is a class apart but in tests he hasn't proved it yet, his top score is 119 (I think) which for the amount of innings he's had doesn't stand him out from anyone, I would rather have Ballance in my test side everyday of the week.
Obviously I've just set up Kohli for a second innings ton...

That lbw shout Anderson had in over 81 is just the sort of decision the umpires need to start giving against India to pile pressure on the BCCI to adopt DRS.

So I've been thinking about the crap umpire decisions in this game and their effect/benefit to the teams. This is how I see it:

Ian Bell - not given out lbw before he had scored - hawkeye showed it should have been given. Bell went on to score 167. Umpire mistake to benefit England 167 runs
Gary Ballance - given out caught behind on 156 - slo-mo showed the ball hit his thigh, not his bat. Umpire mistake benefit to India of unknown runs.
A Rahane - not given out caught behind on 8 - hot spot showed a clip of the glove on the way through to Buttler. Umpire mistake benefit to India so far 42 runs.

Benefits to England 1
Benefits to India 2

So far, not enough to compel the BCCI to rethink!

So who else is wishing we had Plunkett playing then?

Anderson and Broad can't do it all.
I think Broad's bowled his one decent spell of the match this morning.

Great counter-attack by MSD and Jadeja, but we just don't have the fire-power to kill off teams nowadays.

In other news was kinda interesting to see Anderson out whilst I was shopping earlier, one of him holding a horizontal bat in Sports Direct and on the back of a bus on the way home, Wellman Pills or some such.

Anyway bye bye Jadeja. England should definitely enforce the follow-on if they get the chance.

Yeah, those adverts are plastered all over the Tube in central. Good old Jimmeh.

Stop acting like Woakes has bowled miles worse than Plunkett. He bowled some excellent balls and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket. Jordan shouldn't have come in for him though.
