Cook (and Moores perhaps) values Broad more than Plunkett not because of his bowling but because of the moral support on the field and in the dressing room. That's why he's still playing even if it could **** him up for the rest of the summer.

Delighted for Woakes, finally getting his chance. Think Plunkett has been hard done to though, he hasn't bowled awfully when he has been allowed to pitch it up. Stokes being dropped not an awful decision, but I wouldn't have made it.

Pankaj looks like a welcome throw back to when tall seamers were liabilities in the field; went down in stages for Cook's checked drive.

would agree stokes did bowl well but has struggled with the bat obviously. Personally, i think broad should have been dropped instead of plunkett as he has been bowling trash for a long time..

Just for this innings or the match?
Just this innings. The fact you wonder confirms it is not the best bet one can make.....

I can't tell you how much I want you to win that bet mate.
Though I couldn't be arsed about either India or England to win this series, I do want Cook to perform well. I think it is the only way to get England going anywhere. Which is what this series need.

Have I been watching something else? Broad's been the best English bowler this year (bar the last test)

Maybe the logic behind it was that since they have the series lead they should now look to play the safer lineup.
I agree. And as I said earlier, Dhoni doesn't pick players who he doesn't have faith in. And Ashwin-Overseas is that atm.

Holding just called it; Pankaj approaches the crease like a chap who's had no-ball issues.

Good nip, but looks as if he has more gas in him.

Not unlike Jordan, as it goes.

Decent first over from Pankaj. Getting more shape than Shami atleast so far with the new ball.

Need Bhuvi to strike here.

Distinctly English look about Pankaj - the sort that legend has it came out of an East Midlands coal mine whenever Notts or Derbys wanted a new quick bowler
