Who is/was the ultimate, most proficient and masterful medium-paced-dibbly-dobbler?

the big bambino

International Captain
Think Bailey was a bit too sharp. From earlier days Sussex had a guy called Parks who was a top order batsmen but took a **** load of fc wkts with inswingers and cutters. From the same era India's CK Nayudu could wibble like Rolf Harris' wobble board. One of India's finest players in their early years his reputation remains untarnished to this day.

Mr. Glass
Can't remember how quick Neil Johnson was. Does he belong here? Opened both the bowling and batting for ZIM in ODIs around 1999.

International 12th Man
If talking only of test cricket, in terms of averages I think Cronje and Dougie Walters are the two best, both getting wickets at under 30.

I liked Jeremy Coney's style, hooped things miles, always looked like he was bowling with a two-piece. To go for an obscure one, didn't Gary Cosier get a 5-for in a one-dayer somewhere?

Guy Whittall was a good call - one of the few Zimbos to enjoy the May test matches in England.

Mascarenhas never made an impact internationally, rules him out in my view.

Cricketer Of The Year
late-era Ian Botham (ie 1992 World Cup) - bowled swing at what one could only with extreme generosity describe as genuine medium pace.

Not to be confused with middle-era Ian Botham (ie late 1980s) who erroneously regarded himself as a genuine quick and tended to serve up military medium long-hops.

Would loved to have seen Boycott and Gooch open the batting and then open the bowling. Both made it wobble.

Sobers......How exactly would you categorize his bowling? Was there anything this man couldn't do??????
