Any decent captain would have told Anderson and Broad to pitch it up more. And would have dropped them for refusing to do so.

What is it with english quicks and bowling too short? Them refusing to pitch it up is the main reason for our drawn series a while back imo so its not as if its a recent thing.

I'm all for the Cook is a **** captain talk now but Broad has bowled too short under all of his captains at one point or another.

i.e. he bowls too short.

I don't really get how that's luckless. His plan is to bowl back of a length, and while that style of bowling has a lot of benefits for a cricket team it's never going to take huge bags for the bowler as often as pitched up bowling because it reduces modes of dismissal and it's harder to draw a nick unless the batsmen you're bowling to suck at playing back of a length bowling or you're bowling 145+.

Back of a length medium fast bowlers need to have excellent pitch maps and most of the time Ishant doesn't. He's just not very good at his style and his style isn't conducive to wickets per se anyway, just good for building pressure and forcing batsmen back in their crease which helps the bowling unit as a whole. especially your blokes who pitch it up.
He's like the girl from that nursery rhyme. When she was bad she was very, very bad and when she was good she didn't take as many wickets as she might have.

Along with Cook, Prior needs to be ditched as well. Awful keeping and tentative batting. So Butler has said his keeping needs to come on but even now it must be better than the way Prior is keeping at the moment.

Check out his action - his natural length has to be short

It's an indictment on him that he hasn't learned to use his front arm properly

I think Anderson and Broad have just forgotten how to bowl full.

Bowling is all muscle memory, and for the last year or so till Lords they have been bowling on pitches not conductive to pitching it up, and with the England Team Ethos of 'bowl back of a length and dry the runs up'. Without enough time between games they seem to have fallen into bad habits, pitching it up is probably easier said than done for them at the moment.

Plunkett and Stokes have adapted to this pitch the best, and that's because they've basically just come in from playing County Cricket where they do bowl a lot fuller.

Anderson short to Jadeja was all garbage though; ego getting the best of him.

Good point. Overlooked that. And if anybody is coming in for Prior, it cannot be Butler.

Apart from when the captain has told Plunkett to bang it in halfway down as a plan that hasn't worked.

Yea basically apart from when he was told to do a Mitch impersonation.

Broad's actually bowling shorter now than when he did as an 'Enforcer'. Everyone knows he's more dangerous when he bowls fuller, as does he. I can't believe this is a tactical issue. It's definitely a technical one. Just bad habits seeping in.

Good plan Athers. Replace the left-handed captain who struggles with the full ball outside-off, with a left hander who struggles outside-off, and move Root back up to the top. God awful idea.

It's the same with Cook

The guy knows that his weight distribution is all wrong but is powerless to stop it when under pressure atm

Honestly Vaughan is a deadset disgrace. If that **** comes from Piers Morgan fine, but the bloke is not only a troll but his genuine cricket opinions are rubbish.

I want to have my say about Dhoni.
When the spinners are bowling he always says "Oi" at the moment the batsman hits the ball. This is highly off putting to say anything at the moment the batsman hits the ball and the match referee should be talking to him to cut it out. And he has always done it.
