Because Guptill has the propensity to have a 1 off 10 ball innings like he did today when opening. He must be the only T20 batsman in the world arrogant enough to think it's acceptable to play out so many dots at the start of an innings, because he was once told his he can catch-up later. Only problem is if you do get out for 1 off 10, you've completely wasted 2 overs for your team. I didn't see his innings, so not sure if he just kept missing the ball or was content to block, but the sooner he gets told this is unacceptable, the better. It's bad enough when he dot-ups in 50 over cricket, but sacrilege in T20s.

That theory would hold water if they were chasing 180+ but they only needed 140 odd.
