Explain to someone who watches about 3 tennis matches a year why this is the case please
When the line judge calls it out and it's proved to be in they usually replay the point because the player may have not got it back because it was called out. I.e. they might leave it or just tap it away. Umpire has to decide whether they changed their shot based on the call.

Can't see Federer winning it now tbh. Even if he ties it up, I fully expect djokovic to pull out his reserve tank in the fifth.

It was probably the right call in that Djokovic wasn't getting the ball back, but usually its a replayed point if the linesman/umpire calls it out and its actually in (unless its obvious the player wasn't anywhere near it). To make the call that Novak wasn't getting that ball back regardless of the linesman's call was gutsy. Doing it in a tense tiebreak which will go a long way to decide Wimbledon champion even more gutsy.

In the end didn't matter. Novak won anyway.

I understand what you mean in the fact that its tough for Fed, but comments like this confuse me. How can you not see the GOAT (or top 3 at very least) not possibly winning this match? Unlikely sure. But I mean Novak has played far more tennis this tournament, and it's Federer.

Was Gambhiring tbh.

Insane breakback from Federer there.

If he wins this from here it'll be his greatest ever Slam win (even bigger than 07 Wimby and 09 French). Long way away I know.

Decent start to the fourth by both players, tstl. Djokovic getting into the mode where everything comes back with interest. Amazing.
