Someone was talking about the golden goal rule earlier, good example of why it sucked right there. It also encouraged playing safe for pens etc but extra time is ****ing awesome when there's an early goal in it. Would have robbed us of that to end the game when Belgium took the lead.

Golden goal is the most stupid thing ever thought up in football. In the end it made teams much more cagey in extra-time. Yet even not, what is the point? The flying forward at the end of a cup-tie with one team chasing the game, the other panicking, chance of the counter-attack goal. Got to be one of the very best bits of football. Why kill that, just to stop a few games going to pens. Utterly stupid.

Yeah they got rid of Golden Goal because it was ****ing rubbish. It got introduced for Euro 96 and with the exception of England v Germany all the knockout games that went to extra time were horrendous.

It's quite surprising, imho, to read dozens of newspaper articles (from several countries), 100s of comments and what not about the greatness of The Red Devils.

Sure it was a great match to watch! But wasting so many opportunities and even 100% chances is not going to take the ****s & Lions past Messi & Di Maria and their 9 random Argentinian buddies.
