Boon has to field at short leg Uve.

Sp1key X1
1 Chris Gayle
2 Clive Radley
3 Zaheer Abbas
4 Everton Weekes
5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul
6 Monty Noble
7 Brad Haddin
8 Alec Bedser
9 Jonathan Agnew
10 Scott Muller
11 Courtney Walsh

12 Everton Matambanadzo

Its a shame Spikey didn't pick in the final round as if you replace Scott Muller with a reasonably safe pick such as Saqlain Mushtaq or Ntini, the team looks quite good. Walsh and Bedser is a great new ball attack and Noble first change is solid. The openers are okay, but the batting from 3 to 7 is really good.

Plenty of bowling options for all conditions there Bob. Was there some reason you couldn't get another allrounder for Hanif?
Picked him up in the "played an odd number of test matches" question when I needed a second opener. Surprisingly enough there aren't a lot of openers who have played an odd number of tests who are also fairly talented with the ball.

im often a fan of safety at the bottom of the order, and he has the ability to bat quickly anyway. if there was one player i could change it would be cowper

****ing awesome batting lineup, one elite bowler and some great support bowlers. Only weakness is a lack of a solid 5th bowling option, probably a 2nd elite bowler and obviously the keeper (in fairness he likely would've been a quality player if it wasn't for Apartheid).

International Regular
Glenn Turner
Bill Lawry
Pujara
Tendulkar
Dudley Nourse
Les Ames
Albie Morkel
Chris Cairns
Richie Bernard
Richard Hadlee
Wasim Akram

Very solid opening partnership up the top, followed by Pujara who jas already shown he has the technique and temperament to score big runs the world over.

Tendulkar and Nourse make up the heart of the batting and while Ames might not be an atg #6 the hex tail to end all hex tails surely makes up for that. Good luck to anyone who fancys rolling this lineup over.

Two top 10 bowlers to open with in Hadlee and Akram, new ball and old ball covered right there. Cairns is a decent third seamer at this level and Morkel can keep it tight for a few overs. Always wanted to pick Bernaud and I finally got my chance, a dangerous spinner on any surface and Narine comes in for Morkel on turning pitches to leave all bases covered.

Really happy with this team.

All the batsmen have been top 5 in the ICC rankings, two of them having been the best in the world during their careers, and two of them second best. Hunte and Hutton form a very handy opening pair, capable of blunting the best of bowling attacks. Macartney (Bradman's batting hero) is the perfect man to come in at #3 and throttle the attack, and O'Neill at 4 can carry on in much the same vein. Hussey can either stabilise things or continue to attack as the situation demands, one of the most clever batsmen I've seen, and Loxton as batting AR and Engineer as keeping AR are both very handy batsmen with plenty of flair. While there is no real bowling all rounder at #8, all of the tail could bat and all can be difficult to dismiss. None are bunnies. Engineer a true great of wicketkeeping, on par with the very best of all time.

My bowlers are all top shelf and none would be out of place in an ATG team for their respective nation, and it could be argued none would be out of place in a world ATG XI. They compliment each other beautifully, the height and pace of Garner, the speed and skid and aggression of Steyn, the control and ability and craft of CTB and the accurate and deceptive off spin of Tayfield would create serious problems for any batting line up. Counting wickets per test, Tayfield took 4.59, Turner took 5.94, Garner took 4.46 and Steyn takes 5.02, meaning between them my four main bowlers take 20.01 wickets per test. Which is kinda handy! Add the medium pace of Loxton (who was a very successful bowler at FC level in spite of limited test opportunities), and the spin of Macartney, and we will take 20 wickets per test quite comfortably.

Monk's bowling attack doing various fun things to show we're not just all about smashing opposition batmen all the time….

Thanks Nufan. Very well run as always. I'd imagine a fair bit of work goes on behind the scenes to run this type of draft, so cheers!

That's an impressively deep batting lineup.

some cracking sides there, but obviously can't win because they forgot to draft any sheep.

Excel helps. I dont spend much time thinking up questions. Its the ensuring the person picked a) fits criteria b ) not already chosen is where I have to concentrate. That already chosen and banned list is as much for me as you all.

Anyway, I think we have most of the teams. Ill put them all into the 1 post tonight.

Riggins have you got yourself an XI? Please post it so we can start the voting...

Edit - Actually, who's going to bowl in your team? Great batting lineup though. I put your boi Marto at 4..

1 Mark Taylor (c)
2 WG Grace
3 Archie Jackson
4 Damian Martyn
5 Jacques Kallis
6 AB de Villiers
7 Steve Smith
8 Eknath Solkar
9 Dipak Patel
10 Khokhan Sen+
11 Njabulo Ncube

I guess Ncube and Kallis will open the bowling with Grace and Martyn first change. Patel, Smith and Solkar to offer different variety of spin. You'll need the tactical genius of Taylor to draw matches..
