In my day my dad made me mow the lawn as soon as he dared to trust me with sharp spinning blades.
My lad is only 10 so wouldn't be able to push it yet without me worrying he'd do something stupid.

They just gone to play volleyball anyway so I can hope Sanga gets there before 3 and get it done then.

Looks like a complete road from the top of the Mound Stand. Very little real fast carry through unless the bowler really bends his back and hammers it in short of a length. Chat here is all about just how many Sanga is going to get today, not whether we will get him out.

With the old ball, on a deck this placid, our attack isn't good enough to trouble batsmen of this class. 400 at stumps?

3/400 by stumps should be the aim now having seen just how difficult it is to prise out wickets on this deck, I suspect Mahela might be in a bit of trouble when the new ball arrives, and that could expose Thirimanne as well given how he goes against Anderson with the new pill. Sri Lanka have miles and miles to go but they should be harbouring thoughts of going past England and putting some pressure on in the 3rd innings on what may turn out to be a difficult last day pitch.

New ball the key moment of the match. England get a few wickets they may be able to get a good lead, if not it looks a draw nailed on.

I think "disdainful" is probably the word that best describes the way that Sanga is treating proceedings right now. Credit to Cook, he is trying to take the initiative and change things around in the field a little - e.g. leg gully to Plunkett - but, given the docile nature of the wicket, the net effect is a tiny margin for error, associated gaps in the field and two of the best batsmen in the world in these conditions who are just going to fill their boots.

Count the overs until the new ball...
