Abou Diaby moving to a club with a half-decent medical team would be a victory for football.

Bentley a classic case of too much money for an average player and he doesn't need to work hard so walks away. If he has been sensible he is made for life though many ex players like David James recently end up in trouble as they fritter it away stupidly.
James always struck me as someone intelligent. Wonder how you can piss away that much money.

Didn't David James have OCD or something? I remember stories of him playing Tekken 3 for 48 hours straight.

I haven't heard that but it might be true. One thing I have heard is that in American sports things like money management is being taught to most of the players once they enter the pro's. Wouldn't be surprised if they did it at football academies too.

Yeah, it seems quite a lot of pros have huge problems with this. I heard the reason Brad Friedel is still playing in his 40s is because he's owes people huge amounts of money and is basically broke. Lee Hendrie another famous and recent example of a player who's literally lost it all.

Yeah, rather different cases though. Friedel made some bad investments I think. Keith Gillespie one that gambled it all away.

I can sort of imagine what it's like. You spend a decade or more of people fawning and worshiping you and then all of a sudden you're yesterday's news. Once you get there it's almost impossible to get paid. The fawcet turns off quickly in sports.

Michael Chopra another excellent example, has a massive betting addiction. Jimmy Bullard mentioned in his autobiography that some betting mobster that Chopra owed a **** load of money too turned up at the Ipswich training ground. Ipswich ended up paying his debts off for him in the end. He's going to finish his career broke.

So less than 48 hours after Cesc to Chelsea is confirmed the Cazorla to Atletico rumours start. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

What it comes down to is this: if Kim Kallstrom was needed last season I fail to see how Wenger and the board have decided Fábregas wasn’t required this term.
Yeah, this article rather misses the point that Arsenal lacked cover in midfield, not bona fide great starters. Unless the Grauniad is seriously suggesting Fabregas should have been signed as a reserve I don't really get what point it is making here.

I don't get why there has to be "anger" at anyone, either. This is just something that has been whipped up by the media so far as I can see. I'm not angry at all, it's just one of those situations that is really, really horrible.
