Vaughan tweeting that Plunkett should and will play for England this summer.

God knows if he will but he has certainly started the season well.
Really?! Looked bog-standard on t'telly box, utterly out-bowled by Bres and Sidey. His figures haven't really been that good. Picking up 2 tail-enders today, doesn't really make me want to rush him in the side.

I think we should all realise Vaughny talks total crap nowadays.

Bell spoke very highly of him yesterday. The little I saw of him in that Championship game, I thought he looked like the same old Plunkett though.

If he and Bres both left for internationals we may well end up with Pyrah in the first team. Let's nt underestimate the seriousness of that.

95-0 at the Oval and going at a run a minute, encouraging ... well if Middlesex can chase 470 it shouldn't be too much of a mountain to climb.

There it is! Smith's first 100 for Surrey, and the first-wicket pair have made over half of the target.

Elsewhere Lancs not having the best of days. And Hants have wrapped up a win against Glamorgan with Vince taking his career avge to 40 - for the first time, I would guess.

More results this week than I expected after that weather on day 1 and 2.

Northants look doomed already but most sides look capable of winning games apart from Lancashire who i think will go down with Northants. Wide open at the top of the table though.

As for Div 2 the top 2 look good and the rest look poor to crap, a couple of good results back to back will really shoot you up the league.

Horror display. Our batting minus Bell + when the tail doesn't come off has been a disaster so far.

Plunkett is the new Mitchell Johnson. Comes round the wicket to the right-handers and bowls 90mph for short spells according to Gillespie. Still bowling down the leg-side but now they have a leg-slip for him.

Others are saying same e.g. Selvey

Apparently bowling quite quickly and relatively accurate

He's quick by county standards and seems to be able to maintain that pace for long periods, but straight up and down in the low 140s doesn't really scare Test quality batsmen. You have to be a bit quicker than that to succeed based primarily on your pace, and he still sprays it around.

In all honesty Brooks looks a far better bowler but I wouldn't really think of him as an international prospect. The only way you could consider Plunkett is as a stopgap 4th bowler who can bat until Stokes is fit and you may as well stick with Bresnan in that role if you go down that route as you know what level you are getting with him.

Not even in T20? Has a very good domestic T20 record. Good economy, decent average, and a very good strike rate. Last year especially he was excellent, picking up 13 wickets at 14, economy of 7.5 and a strike rate of 11. Can't see how Gurney is a better option than him, other than the fact Gurney happens to bowl with a different arm, which seems a ridiculous reason to pick an inferior cricketer.

Think he's blowing his own trumpet a little bit. Here's a video of him playing a couple of years ago. He looks a reasonable cricketer, and that six did go a long way, but bowls 90mph? Not a chance.

Looking forward to the T20 Blast. Got tickets to see Surrey vs Somerset in July at the Oval. First time I'll have been to the Oval, so am pretty excited. Hopefully KP'll be around, and get to see him have a hit in person.
