Very good pick. I hadn't realized until this draft how good a test bowler Chris Cairns was. His record is deeply impressive. Very Kapil Dev-ish overall. I don't know another cricketer closer to Kapil. Batting style too quite similar. Both were good at clearing the ropes.

Intense limited overs player, and a very good test record as a batsman (even excluding his "century" against India that summer). I would have been in a quandary as to who to pick between Watson, Symonds and Cairns had you guys not taken the choice out of my hands. Still think they all have their pros and cons.

Never actually thought of comparing him to Dev, but that comparison works really well actually. I've always thought of Cairns as a player in the Botham mold, hard hitting lower order batsmen, opening bowlers who were match winners with both bat and ball for a span of several years, who then slumped due to injuries/unfitness. Now i would place him somewhere in-between to two in terms of style.
