It really is such a piss poor batting lineup.

How do you auction and draft 0 (arguably 1) openers? Next level genius.

And then Sharma decides not to open after getting so much experience as one over the past year. Idiot.

I still can't work out how Narine does it...the one that pitches and leaves the right hander. The knuckle ball? And he gives the batter no time either, witness the Hussey dismissal. The REAL gun bowler of the IPL?

Looks like I was wrong. Didn't know his stats were that good. But he has done nothing that stands out in my memory so far. Probably a great support bowler but nothing much other than that.
He was actually a purple cap holder in one of the IPL seasons I think.

Anderson's always been regarded as better against spin than pace..
Is he? I have been out of NZ for a while now so I haven't been watching domestic cricket but New Zealand wickets are hardly spin friendly and the quality of domestic spinners judging by who we pick to play internationals is poor. He looked all at sea with the ball turning against quality spinners, then again coming in with 3 overs left needed 18 an over is tough for anyone, Pollard also struggled. Personally if Hussey has another shocker I would be tempted to drop him and try Anderson as an opener and bring in Santokie.

Anderson's modus operandi against pace is to leave anything and everything outside off stump. He know's he lacks technique in certain areas so he makes up for it with a good awareness of his off stump.

It's not a bad method but obviously it's a bit makeshift and he'll be better when he expands that part of his game.

He's pretty good against spin.

I see Corey Anderson as the new muscular breed of one day and 20/20 hitters in the mould of Aaron Finch perhaps? But will he be consistently found out?

He's 23, an allrounder who bowls medium fast outswing, already has a test match century and is established as a Test middle order batsman, and won a first class contract at the age of 16. Not too much in common with Finch to be honest.

By no means is his game complete, but he's not just a t20 hitter. He's a genuine cricketer.

He could still turn out to be a bit Irfan Pathan, but the indications so far are not that "t20 slogger" are all that we should expect from him.

They've still referred to it as the IPL in like half their articles over the past week though. Wonder why sometimes it's okay and something it's not, unless they just haven't bothered fixing it half the time.
