Just a general warning to everyone in here, if you're going to swear, don't self-censor it in part. The filter's there, let it do it's job.

Not going to hand out official warnings or infractions now, but I will in the future.

Oh dear. Jesse really is way too good to be playing domestic cricket.
So is de Grandhomme, hope he gets another chance at international level.

@ Dan,

Noted. I think that's my first time using profanity on the board & wasn't aware of the filter :) So riled by IPL interfering with a tour schedule at this stage.

Very tempted to go down to the Basin to watch this run chase.

it's an important year for the IPL, so surely they should have cut the tour before the auction
I guess it's a Future Tours Programme thing that had it confirmed before we all started worrying about the fact it's an 'important year'.

Still sh*ts me so much. The Windies can give their Test status to someone else if their players want to pay lip service to it and their Board prefers to host limited overs and take the cash.

I don't get why you'd be so upset about this. It's a completely meaningless ODI series, the likes of which does nothing to stimulate interest in the game or generate long term health for cricket.

If you want to keep someone motivated to play for their country, make sure you're looking after them well. England and Australia might be able to afford to remunerate their players well enough, but for boards like WI and NZ, the best way they can look after their players is to give them every opportunity to earn their extra cash through the IPL.

I don't see how the ODI specialists have been looked after here.
they're being looked after with central contracts. They're also being given the opportunity to pick up IPL contracts if they're good enough. It should have happened before the IPL auction.

Honestly? Because I have friends who are ODI cricketers. I haven't spoken to them as they're in Bangladesh but I don't imagine they're very chuffed that they have missed out on income just so the chosen few can earn more.

I would be interested in whether they are being remunerated for loss of income through all this, whether there is a collective agreement that covers cancelled tours.

I hear your point on the IPL. However our guys have accepted much more readily that they cannot (yet) have it all in terms of a balance between a full IPL season and representing their country. The Windies, are a different story. I imagine they're the only country in the world (barring obviously India) that would require a reshuffle

Yes they have central contracts but they're also losing around $10k with this reshuffle. For the 20th player on an NZC contract, that is 1/7th of his base contract. 10K to anyone is a lot of money, especially a guy at the bottom of the rung who could potentially drop down if opportunities don't go his way. I would just find it staggering if they're expected to just say ah well, that's what happens - enjoy your loot IPL friends.

I am proud of nz cricket for keeping the three tests. It was either that or the ODIs good call.

I do "get" Steve's point though.

I'm very happy the Tests remained, I'd be spitting tacks even more if one or more got the flick.

I don't know if I have a point, I'm just interested as to how it all plays out with cancelled tours, especially due to the filthy Indian cash grab. No hiding that I despise it. as I do T20

I wish Ronchi would quit or move to ND. The only Blunders I want in the Black Caps sure aren't his.
