**Official** Australian Domestic Season 2013/14

Eloquentia

U19 12th Man
On that note though it's a sad indictment on South Australian coaching that the three best under 21 spinners in the state are all from the Northern Territory.

And even worse that the third best one despite having like 20 A grade wickets in 5 games was literally unknown to the state and national scouts or whatever they are until a week ago.

We're so ****. I mean not only can't we field a team from South Australia but the next best juniors aren't even from here.

Yeah it's disappointing to say the least. SA won the U/17 championships in 2010 and the only guy to break through from there to the senior side is Trav Head (they won it again this year too). So something's going very wrong with the transition from junior cricket to senior cricket.

Quick look at the SA grade cricket stats this year, only one of those guys (other than Head) are in the top run-scorers lists, none of the bowlers. Now, not all of the players will transition from u/17's to senior state cricket but you'd expect more than a few to be playing A-grade by now and, in the past, on average 3 or 4 would go onto state cricket. Looking through old U/17's scorecards, I'm seeing the sons of state level cricketers (or better) playing in these champs but nowhere else and in more recent scorecards, very few of them are even playing A-grade.

Where are they all going?

They could always sign Michael Beer it is now the silly season.Wonder if NSW would give Zampa a contract or Majot Singh.

Heard today that Botha and Zampa don't get along at all. Apparently if SA retain Botha, Zampa's going back to NSW even if it means sitting 3rd/4th in the pecking order.

Heard it second hand so I'm sure there's a bit of embellishing before it got to me but still, food for thought.
I really don't think Botha will return, given he could probably easily slot straight back into the SA ODI team, but man, leaving two teams in two seasons...

It's pretty good having some radio commentary on this coverage, even if it's a bit partisan. At least you don't have to have your eyes glued to the screen the whole time (except when TPC is on strike, of course in which case it's mandatory).

I think they're a sports FM station from Perth. I mean, wickedly biased and all, but it's better than no sound at all and missing a heap of stuff going on while you're working*
