Key thing Clarke did against that barrage was not throw it away and think it's all too tough and get out trying to hook and pull.

Instead he did what Elgar did well in the second test and got his bat and hands out of the way (except for one ball), take it on the body and not take the easy way out and pull out to the blokes on the boundary.

Contrast that to how most of the English players played Johnson.

Yep. It only looked really bad at the end of that over when he started fending with his gloves. Other than that, it was ugly, but there was very little chance of him getting out unless he walked onto his stumps.

Yup. That's what impressed me. Never tried to hit his way out of trouble. Gutsing that spell out separates the very good from the mediocre

LOL wat?? This is test cricket mate not T20.......run a ball 50's don't win test matches son.......lets talk later about Warner winning or losing any argument.
Smith, Amla,Kallis and AB were scoring big hundreds when Davey was questioning their "focus"
Warner has batted through 2 sessions so far for 121 off 132.

You mentioned Smith. Warner has made 3 times as many runs in this innings than Smith has made in his 4 innings in the series

Probably time for that chat you suggested we should have...
