I don't think he missed the edge. How'd the umpire miss that edge, though? Weird.

He did, because Smith had to use a review in order to have a look.I don't think he missed the edge.
He's more Safrican than Aussie these days...Mike Haysman is actually Australian.
Nah that wasn't a review. He did, because Smith had to use a review in order to have a look.

Yeah. Quick look at every dismissal. Ask the batsman to wait if it looks like something might be wrong and investigate further.whose hands then? putting it in the on-field umpires hands won't solve the problem because there will be occasions where the umpire is absolutely sure the batsman is out/not out and won't review his call even if its wrong. And i can't really see how it can be put in the 3rd umpires hands, is he expected to make a call between the short space of a decision being given not out and the next ball being bowled?
What about when a batsman is incorrectly given not out?Yeah. Quick look at every dismissal. Ask the batsman to wait if it looks like something might be wrong and investigate further.
1. Pathetic bull****.Because they are designed as an "mechanism" to overcome umpires mistakes. They are designed for overt mistakes i.e. clangers. Not for decisions like Rogers' nick. 1. DRS review management is a strategical element of the modern game.
2. The only alternative is for the 3rd umpires to adjudicated on everything and field umpires to only count deliveries and to signal "over". Is that what you really want?

Was tested in the Australian list A competition a couple of seasons ago, failed and was thrown out, umpires would want to check everythingYeah. Quick look at every dismissal. Ask the batsman to wait if it looks like something might be wrong and investigate further.
So your money is on Australia?Reckon we could well look at these last two overs as the turning point come the end of the game.
i seem to remember george bailey either being the batsman or captain involved in a bad decision that the umpire wouldn't take upstairsWas tested in the Australian list A competition a couple of seasons ago, failed and was thrown out, umpires would want to check everything
Hold up play and give him out. Maybe introduce a mandatory 10 second break between every ball(if its a spinner) for the 3rd umpire to give the all clear. What about when a batsman is incorrectly given not out?
I seem to remember Peter Forrest being given out after like a 5 minute break when the ball was just clipping the stumps and boof got angry as ****, I think the Bulls were playing Tassie and Bailey spoke out against the system the next dayi seem to remember george bailey either being the batsman or captain involved in a bad decision that the umpire wouldn't take upstairs
