Kippax, have you heard of Josh Poole? Left arm spinner and top order bat. He may potentially be playing for CD at the end of the summer

Yeah but all players should know by now that he doesn't
"Because I just bowl straight leggies guys ask `how can you get people out?'

"But they need to ask themselves that, not me.

"It's not my fault they keep getting out. It's like I should be apologising. I've bowled it, it's pitched on middle, gone on and you've missed it. Gee, what a wanker."

Josh Poole Marlborough's weekly sports star | Stuff.co.nz

Born in Palmerston North, Josh and his family moved to Blenheim when he was six and it is hardly a surprise that cricket has been a huge part of his life since an early age. His dad Dave had him bowling and batting in the backyard as soon as he was able, while former Black Cap Mathew Sinclair lived next door. Josh still sees and hears from Sinclair and his admiration for the Central Stags batting legend has even led to some of his mates giving him Sinclair's nickname of "Skippy".

Mark Craig, Trent Johnston and Dane Watson the shining lights of bowlers who look to have a bit about them in that video (besides Ish). Now if only they could take wickets at less than 30 in FC...

To be honest I think a spin bowling coach who hadn't seen any of them bowl before would give you Daniel Vettori, Jeetan Patel and Bruce Martin out of that lot, which doesn't say a lot for the next gen bowlers. I agree with you about the three you identified though; Craig has actually done vaguely decently of late too.

haha i thought those three looking the part was a given. no hope any of those three will make a meaningful test contribution again though. no ready made spinners for unzud. :(

I think we just have to stick with Sodhi. Just only play him in the subcontinent where we know a 5th seamer is absolutely useless.

Let's not forget, even Imran Tahir picked up a 5-for against Pakistan. At worst he could prove useful in a Kendrick Perkins sorta way.

Two teams today (Auck, Wgtn) leaving out a bowler from their playing XIs, so only 3 specialist bowlers and need to fill up the overs with all-rounders. Auks may regret this, have Otago 2-17, but opening bowlers need a rest and now deG / Munro are now bowling.

PS become very weak at this time of year. All the promising fast bowlers injured as per usual, plus the test XI unavailable. Not even late enough in season for all teams to be playing 2 spinners.
