won't happen at the basin but will in the windies imo or something similar.
The West Indies is one tour where picking four quicks and Anderson would be totally pointless. Bennett would bowl much less than Williamson in that situation; might as well pick another batsman. Could be worth a punt in Wellington but it won't happen; $20 says they pick the exact same side unless Taylor is unavailable.

I can see that batting line-up for the Windies, but they will pick a spinner over Bennett.

I think we have to go NMac for the next test. For me it has to be a spinner and he has to be an economical one. There is only one man who fits this bill. No he won't get any wickets through skill but he will go for 2.5 an over and might frustrate someone into a silly shot which is basically how Bruce Martin got some of his wickets against England. He is also good enough to be a test match number 8 and will strengthen the tail. His FC batting average is nearly as high as Jimmy's (25 vs 27) as well.

You can argue that NMAc is not good enough to be a front line spinner in a test and you would be correct. But I reckon he has developed his accuracy enough to do a containing job.
Nah, NcCullum would be a waste of time, would likely get milked at around his ODI career economy of around 4.75 without being a real wicket-taking option. Why not just play to our strengths and play a 4th specialist seamer like Henry or Bennett.

Did Bennett go off for Canterbury today? I'm just going by the scorecard but either him or Ellis didn't complete one of their overs.
Bennett went off injured yesterday.

He bowled today and took his 2 wickets. Seems like it may have just been a niggle or strain yesterday.

Yeah you are right as Athlai pointed out in the crabs forum. I retract my suggestion.

Lock it in guys.
On what grounds would you retain Fulton whilst you're cleaning out the filth? Equally good argument to drop him as Rutherford How long can he live off that century in each innings against England last year?

Swapping out both Rutherford and Fulton is a little bit too much of a change. Fulton is a reliable slip and is more likely to do the primary job of seeing off the new ball than Rutherford is.

I'd settle for Guptill and Latham coming in but I think we should sort of gradually change it over.

Chuck Latham or Guptill in the next Test, bring them on tour to WI and make the decision then on form on who our openers should be.

Completely off topic of where the thread is at and probably already mentioned, I just cant get over the parallels between Dhoni's dismissal and the delivery Wagner bowled Prior last year.
Dhoni's hit the stump we won the game!!!!
Yes there are ten thousand if buts and maybes, but f*** me it is spookily similar.
