Outside the current test attack and maybe Matt Henry, I'd back Bevan Small to perform just as good as anyone with the ball

Neesham's about 10kph quicker than Anderson and is a right armer.
10kphs? Whenever I've seen him he trundled down in the early - mid 130s.

Just a personal opinion but I find him to be a bit of a bits and pieces player - can kinda bat, can kinda
Bowl.... Not particularly great at either but great to have as a backup ODI squad member

Luke ronchi to come in for Taylor as a specialist batsman
Upon reflection, I wouldn't mind Brownlie getting a recall as cover even though he hasn't scored that many runs this season. I don't think his weaknesses against spin would be too badly exposed in Wellington

Assuming Ryder's absolutely no chance now, Dean Brownlie would be my pick for a one off middle-order selection as well. Latham in for one of Rutherford/Fulton. I really don't mind which.

what's good about this win is 12-18 months ago india would have won from the position they were in imo. nz have learnt what it feels like to win easily (windies) and that's helped them win a tight game, which in turn hopefully will keep nz confident in the next tight spot.

Neesham is not good enough at bowling to be a 4th bowler. Even if he is slightly better than Corey J he is not a test match quality front line bowler.

I think we have to go NMac for the next test. For me it has to be a spinner and he has to be an economical one. There is only one man who fits this bill. No he won't get any wickets through skill but he will go for 2.5 an over and might frustrate someone into a silly shot which is basically how Bruce Martin got some of his wickets against England. He is also good enough to be a test match number 8 and will strengthen the tail. His FC batting average is nearly as high as Jimmy's (25 vs 27) as well.

You can argue that NMAc is not good enough to be a front line spinner in a test and you would be correct. But I reckon he has developed his accuracy enough to do a containing job.

I actually think that upon reflection India got greedy against Sodhi today. They basically hit him out of the series. If they had've just milked him around for 3.5 an over he might have been retained.

Exactly the same as me.
Although I have a pref for retaining Fulton for the less tangible reasons of being an old calm head, on his last chance due to his age, and a solid 2nd slip.

none of our spinners are good enough. it's a shame henry, milne and wheeler are injured but lets just pick bennett. kw is the best spinner/thrower in the country unless you want to take a gander on the likes of mark craig or some young fingerspinner with a slightly less dire record than sodhi. but to be honest they're all barely effective for their first class sides atm (tastle's average has ballooned to 38 in recent games and the rest are worse).

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I'd rather Br00ce gets a recall than a NcCullum debut. If you were to blood a spinner for the sake of having a spinner, give Craig a trundle. I'd personally choose Bennett to have the LH/RH combo going after Boult-Southee has finished their opening spell. Latham for Rutherford but retain Fulton as I think he's more likely to score some runs next Test (although I'd secretly love to see Michael "New Backlift" Papps get one more go).

Edit: I'd have Ryder for Taylor but given the kerfuffle, Brownlie.
