*Official* English Football Season 2013-14

King Pietersen

International Captain
Laudrup should definitely not have been sacked. Won Swansea the only major trophy in their entire existence, is sitting 12th in the league, and was in the process of building an excellent squad. Ridiculous that he's been sacked.

That's not what the story is. His relationship with the chairman has completely broken down and he was going to leave in the summer anyway. They're just cutting the tie now so they can move on before next season.

BARNES OUT
People are ****ing delusional about Swansea. They've sucked for 12 months and were consistently losing games where they dominated possession. When your only tactic is losing you games on the reg, you should lose your job.

He did very little about it as well apparently. The Mail (I know) said the final straw was him taking a trip to Paris after their loss last Saturday.

The old Belfast Telegraph. Dire even for a local.

The idea of looking at a manager's results and judging whether he should have been sacked from the outside is a load of arse with a club like Swansea. Like looking at Microsoft's profit last year to decide whether to get a new cleaner.

Tom Halsey

International Coach
Logically it's not much of a surprise and we all knew it was possible, but still seeing it confirmed makes it all the more shocking again instinctively, to me at least.

Might be for the best for both parties, might not be. Depends on who he joins and who we get to replace him and others that are probably going. Sad about it either way though. My favourite latter-years Fergie player, and I think probably the best defender I've ever seen in a United shirt. His statement is classy too. Will miss him.

I think Vidic is over the hill, but Man Utd's turnover of players looks like it will be huge come the end of the season. Will be interesting to see what happens. The prospect of Moyes having to buy basically half a new squad in the summer wouldn't really fill be with optimism if I was a United fan.

Vidic is like most of our squad: extremely effective if you know when to use him. When Ferguson was in charge he played away from home in Europe, when the team planned to defend deep, and when there was someone faster in the side to cover for him. Since Moyes just pulls his team selections out of a hat, there's not much point keeping specialists like Vidic around.

Arsenal paying $5-6 to win the title. I wonder if there's ever been such long odds on the team on top of the table to win from this point in the season.

Wouldn't know where to check, but possiblities include Blackburn in 1995, Arsenal in 1989, Aston Villa in 1981 and Notts Forest in 1978.
