Deano? Seems a consensus on Smarsh other than the selectors.jesus christ
Yeah exactly right. It was rubbish of Deano to pick 9 Tests instead of 10, dropping the Test that Siddle performed very well in to prove a point. Of course I would like to see him take more wickets but I think its pretty clear over the summer that Siddle's role changed a bit since he was bowling behind two bowlers who were bowling quality. Also, Siddle did maintain the McGrath line for large portions of the series, hence his terrific economy rate.I think Deano is pullin his pud about Siddle. If Lehmann was worried about his speed he'd have dropped him by now. Maybe the only numbers Lehmann is actually interested in are those in the wicket and averages column. That and the nice little trick of getting KP out. Think those factors might weigh a little more heavily than the gayness of his diet or where he tickles the speed gun.
I don't disagree entirely, but I still think that while we have Harris and MJ bowling well, Siddle compliments that with something Pattinson might not quite have yet. Think Siddle has successfully nailed down the real stock bowler thing that makes playing MJ a reality.Dean Jones's exact reasons for Siddle's place being under pressure were silly but I don't think it'd actually take much for it to happen. Should Johnson maintain his recent level of performance and Pattinson become fully fit again then Siddle just straight up isn't part of Australia's best attack anymore, irrespective of his bowling speed or dietary choices. Siddle's head has been quite wrongly called for several times on this forum but I think we're approaching a space where it'd a serious consideration.
No. I think this is just a classic case of Siddle's head being quite wrongly called.Dean Jones's exact reasons for Siddle's place being under pressure were silly but I don't think it'd actually take much for it to happen. I think MJ bowling out of his mind has made playing MJ a realityI don't disagree entirely, but I still think that while we have Harris and MJ bowling well, Siddle compliments that with something Pattinson might not quite have yet. He's going to South Africa.Siddle's not going anywhere.
Ahh...pity. I was lucky enough to meet Harsha Bhogle recently (not a big fan of him myself). It was interesting...since he openly spoke about how this nexus of only ex cricketers being able to pick up commentary jobs needs to be broken. I wish we had way more Tony Cozier's than Dean Jones'.He's got a gig on a radio network that has just started broadcasting cricket.
