It's an interesting selection. If the plan is to play Doolan in the 1st test, then surely they're going to give him the entire series seeing it's only 3 tests?

In which case, as someone mentioned earlier, wouldn't it have been better to take Maddinson as cover rather than Marsh? I can understand taking Marsh IF they are going to play him, but not as cover. We're pretty well sorted for experience in the squad with Clarke, Haddin, Rogers and Watson all hanging around.

If Doolan plays first test, should he bat at 3 or should he bat at 6 with Watson remaining at 3?

Why? What if Michael Clarke gets a broken toe in the warm up? Why would you want someone who isn't seen as the next likely to score runs as cover?

Yeah if somone non-Doolan got injured it'd be hardly ideal to debut 2 blokes in the same game against this attack, all debut jokes aside.

Agree but maybe they will have them go head to head in the warm-up match.
