Well, tbh he's more likely to be a CSA spy... However, he also would have nothing to do with the ICC.Even worse, you are run by an ecb spy.

As opposed to?WI and SL boards are super corrupt unfortunately.
AWTA. I'll b the first to admit that recent WI results haven't been promising but I think with a little luck and some common sense (which is lacking) we can be a force again. Anyway I digress and I must say I hope this plan falls flat on its face. But I have no faith whatsoever in the WICB doin the right thing. I do think it was a great move to bring in an outsider hope he can be objective and pick players on merit and for goodness sake stop picking TIno Best (sorry couldn't resist!!!).Firstly let me say i find it quite funny how people/ICC love to shunt WI into "minnow" and "second tier" status when the truth of the matter is over the whole duration of the game our success stands high and above most of the other cricketening nations..especilly two of the "big three" who are looking to create this mess. The records are there in black and white...15 years undefeated, 29 test series without defeat, highest run chase in test match history...have won every single ICC trophy ever made...current world t20 champions and have arguebly had the greatest test side that ever play the game etc etc...and yet you'd think we were Bermuda the way some folks talk about WI!!.
How are teams meant to grow and reach glory in this game if the same three are eating off the top table and everyone else has scraps? And you know it's ironic because if test cricket were to die we'd probably be in a good position because you can rest assured our t20/one day talent are coming through by the bucket load!!..especially now we've got the CPL up and running which looks like it could be huge for our cricket moving forward..but in all honesty we still love test cricket in the caribbean..last year against Zimbabwe in a test series we had over 15 thousand turn up for one of the games in dominica!!..yes some fans aren't happy with whats going on in our cricket...but we can see shoots of talent coming up and people can see that we may have a decent unit in a few years...
When India got smashed 4-0 twice in a row to england and aus..i didn't see any calls for them to be "second tier"...when Australia got smashed by india, beat at home by SA and soundly beaten in England recently i didn't see any calls for them to be "demoted"...and now England are getting their backsides spanked and are there any calls? nope!!
Anyway it's looking like our vote might be crucial the way it's going..i can tell you now us WI fans expect our new president to do RIGHT by caribbean cricket..which would be to reject such an idea...but knowing our board if the "big three" make them a crazy offer then lord knows what will happen... one wicb director has already spoken out against it HERE ...and talks are taking place between the wicb board members about it so we shall see what transpires.
So first there will be jockeying over whether this counts as a regular resolution or special resolution. If a special resolution they might have a hard time passing it, though then again the objections from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and West Indies may evaporate with a little carrot-and-stick treatment (leaving SA completely isolated). If it's close then I hope those NZ shunts stop toeing the line and oppose it.For it (the proposal) to progress from merely being a proposal or a recommendation ... it would need to be approved by a majority during an ICC board meeting.
(But) There is a possibility that the draft "position paper" could be treated more than a routine recommendation. Considering that the draft of the F&CA "working group" has far-reaching changes in administrative structures, financial distribution and the creation of an entirely new commercial wing of the ICC, it could require a "special meeting" to pass what the ICC's constitution refers to as a "special resolution". To get a special resolution passed, eight out of the 10 Full Members will need to back the proposal according to the ICC Constitution.
That's not the answer mate. Not suggesting anyone should drop their pants for the BCCI (or the ECB and CA for that matter) and we certainly need some backbone in the ICC but I don't believe we can afford to have cricket without India......or Pakistan, or West Indies or Sri Lanka etc. And I don't mean financially afford.India dropping out of international cricket would be the best outcome. Might even see an independent ICC that way.
So there are concerns BCCI are considering expanding the IPL and poaching the world's best cricketers huh? If that is accurate, then even if the draft proposal does get approved, I suspect the new status quo won't last long. For all the contempt he earnt from the majority of posters, I supect that muchogelato is quite right in his assertions that there is more money to be made from an expansion of franchise cricket than there is from the continuation of the status-quo (in some form or rather), especially for the BCCI. Given the tendency of the ECB and the BCCI to butt heads, I reckon the proposal would probably only last one cycle before the BCCI turfs it out to start the new improved 6-month, 20 team IPL anyway.Wonder how true this is: Fears over India going it alone are behind Cricket Australia's support for ICC shake-up Is this person usually a reliable reporter?
Actually, I was wondering about the possibility of a split or the ICC setting up teams in those three countries, so that we would have something like an "ECB England" and "ICC England".India dropping out of international cricket would be the best outcome. Might even see an independent ICC that way.

How many will they actually be able to poach though? Sure there will be the KP's and Chris Gayles of the world and a good few from the poorer cricket boards that scarcely making a living playing International cricket but honestly, are your Michael Clarkes, Hashim Amlas and Ian Bells gonna give up playing for their countries and get sucked into this ****??So there are concerns BCCI are considering expanding the IPL and poaching the world's best cricketers huh? Ehh, you know, profits gonna profit...Interesting.
"KFC Australia"
If India walk out of the ICC and international cricket then the majority of boards will lose 80% of their revenue overnight. Player salaries will crash and while England and Australia might be able to weather the storm, there will be a player exodus from every other test nation. How many will they actually be able to poach though? This isn't like World series cricket where the top players were making absolute peanuts before Kerry Packer offered them money they've never seen before. Sure the IPL can pay more but these blokes are on a bloody good wicket as it is.
Except it destroys the whole system from the outset. No fan is going to take this seriously, or care about relegation/promotion. Its an insanely stupid move. There is far too much negativity about this. Test cricket is in desperate need of context. A two tier system would provide that. especially if combined with a global season defined by an IPL window. As far as I know NZ havent come out against this and neither have the WI. That should say something. After all where are these teams in 10 years time if nothing happens?
This could benefit the minnows most as they would suddenly have everything to play for rather than just be ignored and fed the odd two-test series no matter what. If youre a good NZ side challenging for the world championship, you woud get treated properly and likely see a massive increase in crowds and interest and the same would probably happen if a weaker NZ side is battling Ireland in a 5 match series for promotion.
But for this to work, realistically, for everyone, you cant have the big three relegated.
