***Official*** Australia in South Africa 2013/14

You get the feeling that SA wont bowl him stuff to knock into the leg side for singles all day though. He left well against England in the corridor but he still fills me with worry when he starts looking to drive through the covers in his first 75.

Mickey "I've heard Doolan will play at 3 and Watson at 6 for South Africa" #cricket

does this mean shane watson can open in ODers again
Makes sense as Doolan hasn't got the range of shots to play at 6

Better option is still Haddin/Faulkner at 6/7 as chances of Doolan averaging more than 35 are remote and at least Faulkner can bowl

I don't know why you keep banging on about that innings. It's like you think success against that attack is an indicator that he might have success against Steyn and Philander.
It's crazy to suggest that an unbeaten 161 against steyn and philander at 6 would suggest he could succeed against philander and steyn whilst batting at 6, I admit.

Scoring tunza runs against the same attack he'll be facing soon? Bold strategy, let's see if it pays off.

Liam Davis played for Australia A. That game must be expunged from all reality. Sorry D00lers, tough break.

The SMarsh selection has me hoping for Dools or Forkers to get a chance and take it. Anyone but SMarsh.

nah smarsh over forka's for sure, forka's is neither a good enough batsman to play at 6 or a good enough bowler to be considered in our top 3, would be madness to play him

I really would like to see Doolan look in more control during the Bash. I know it shouldn't matter, but he has looked pretty ordinary and gotten out to some poor shots which just can't help his case. I hope the selectors don't take this into consideration but faced with a battle between Marsh and Doolan and Marsh is making runs in short format cricket against an International attack, makes me think they might go for him.

Can't see any reason to think they are taking Marsh for the experience. The only explanation for his selection is that the selectors have a boner for him and you don't get boners for guys you want to carry the drinks. He'll surely be in the XI. The only upside in having him in SA rather than the Shield is that he wouldn't be scoring any runs anyway.

Marsh is in the squad as a shadow player. If someone gets injured he's there. Just because someone gets selected in a squad doesn't mean they have to play, it's just that the selectors think if one of the top six gets injured he'll be most likely to score runs. He's not there as an experience or anything like that. He's there as insurance.

His versatility is good. Can open, or indeed bat anywhere in the top 6.

Maxwell played a test. The selectors have proved they can make bone head decisions. SMarsh is going to play.
