Wouldn't say it was a poor innings. First 40 odd balls was awful, yes, but he was good past that point.Poor innings by Guptill, but maybe it'll at least give him some confidence going forward.

It started off an utterly awful innings and he managed to pull in ahead to merely being a poor one. Batting at a SR of 50 for the main chunk of an ODI and putting excessive pressure on the other batsmen means it's definitely a poor innings.Wouldn't say it was a poor innings. Pretty harsh, definitely still room in ODIs for an opener to anchor an innings even in the T20 era. Not a great innings, not a good innings but certainly not a poor one.It started off an utterly awful innings and he managed to pull in ahead to merely being a poor one. I have no problem with anchoring the innings, but the way he started made Ryder feel like he had to score the runs of two batsmen so couldn't take his time at all, which isn't a good mindset to encourage with a guy like Ryder. He gets credit for somewhat redeeming himself by pushing on reasonably well but that still barely evens out how bad he started out IMO.Pretty harsh, definitely still room in ODIs for an opener to anchor an innings even in the T20 era. Decent enough platform for our pure strikers in the lower order.
Yeah and hopefully Watling will come in.Never mind Ronchi one day you will come off.
