Virat Kohli (c)
Okay Jono, I concede. He is officially better. :p
Haha.

I think all 3 of Pujara, Kohli and Rahane have exceeded expectations despite the promise everyone knew they showed. But Rahane has exceeded it the most. He has looked good in 3 of the 4 innings and in the one he didn't he came in looking to score quick runs.

There is quite a diference between a pumped up Dale Willem Steyn and a pumped up Dale Willem Steyn!

What a bowler he is.

My expectations of Rahane were a bit conflicted because from what I'd seen of his technique I really didn't think he'd struggle away more than at home per se. If he had the mental game and the overall skill to handle international bowling then I knew he had the technique to do it away too; I just remained unconvinced about the former two qualities. I was pretty confident that he was not going to be a home town hero but that didn't necessarily mean he was going to be a good Test batsman; quite the opposite to Rohit in that sense. But yeah, this series has been massive for him. Rohit's runs against the West Indies in that first Test was so vital so I don't want to engage in revisionism about them but Rahane's efforts here have really shown so much more.
