True and that was against SA too wasn't it? In the series Laxman and Dravid were injured. Still, he scored fifty in that 1 innings and about five in the other 2. Not particularly impressive. Obviously it is a ridiculously small sample size to come to any meaningful conclusion but he looked pretty rubbish too for mine. Not only in the couple of tests he played but also in the handful of ODIs he played. Just seemed to be totally out of his depth.
Did you see that T20 innings in the first IPL(2008) when he played Warne with ridiculous ease when the others struggled? He did belong in the international stage. The selectors were just too ****ing stupid to see it and selected him just about when his purple patch came to an end as a FC batsman.

Yeah Badri got shafted by the selectors imo. Gave Yuvraj and Raina a bazillion tests even when it became obvious they weren't any good but didn't give a guy who averages 60 a proper go.
He got that 50 in the same match Steyn got 7 didn't he?
Yuvraj started off quite well and then lost his way, after that whenever he made comebacks, he was dropped after a couple of bad innings, wasn't given proper opportunities to actually see where he stands in test cricket.

After he recovered from cancer, he was picked in the side too soon(talking about all formats), he looked quite slow, seemed to have lost his agility. And even recently, he spent a lot of time on raising his fitness, and he should have been allowed to play a lot more domestic cricket for getting his form going before being selected. Yuvraj needs to be handled well tbh.

On the other hand, Raina was given ample of opportunities for no reason at all, never looked good enough for test cricket and never had that kind of temperament.

SA and the Proteas certainly don't mix. The deck looks flat but their batsmen have a habit of imploding here. Surprised they didn't play the extra match at Capetown and avoid this venue altogether.

I am convinced SA was told where the games have to be played.

I expected Vijay to flop but held out hope that his temperament that he displayed against Aus earlier would help him a bit. Certainly exceeded my expectations.

What do SA hope to achieve by going off for bad light like the comms suggest? You don't give up after 60 overs on day 1 of a test match.

I bet they were told not to go after the win last match either. And told to make sure Kallis retired and Steyn be out of form and the cloudy weather was all BCCI too.
Not at all, but there has been ludicrous demands and I would not be susprised if demands was mademon the venues as well.

Yep, totally agree with this. The deal was that India would be made to feel as comfortable as possible but that they should not perform well in the test series and threaten SA's ranking. In return SA guaranteed a semi final exit in the following WC thus making it easier for India to retain their title...India suddenly decided there was nothing in it for them then and started playing well in the test series
