New Zealand (probable) 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Luke Ronchi (wk), 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Jesse Ryder/James Neesham, 6 Brendon McCullum (capt), 7 Corey Anderson, 8 Nathan McCullum, 9 Mitchell McClenaghan, 10 Kyle Mills, 11 Adam Milne
Cricinfo are so cray cray.

Ronchi isn't opening, and it's Milne/Neesham for the final spot.

Alright lads? happy christmas to you all...even my kiwi friends :D ..

Well it's been pretty frantic in our cricket since the whole test series shambles...big meetings between our new director of cricket Richard Pybus and Ottis Gibson will be going on in the Caribbean after this limited overs series. The word is this guy is gonna be calling the shots now and will be seeking answers from Gibbo, the selectors and Sammy about what transpired in India and NZ.

He's also gonna be responsible for the rebuilding of our domestic system from schoolboys right up to our four day competition...there's no doubt now that more games will have to be played in our competition because that's the only way our players will improve.

Hearing Samuels has an injured wrist might explain his indifferent performances of late..i certainly hope that was the issue becase when he's on he's top class.

Winning against NZ again would just have papered over the cracks like it did last year..now everything has been hung out to dry i'm really hopeful that our cricket can finally move forward now with a stronger domestic system and a new captain.

Not that bothered about the ODIs tbh!!..would be nice to win yes but there's far too many key players missing!!..so i'm not expecting much...really looking for Holder to further enhance his reputation though!!..i see him as Sammy's replacement.

In closing just looking at things where NZ are concerned!!..when you look at it only three players were consistent...Boult, Southee and Taylor....that won't be enough in the Caribbean in may....and Narine's hold over the kiwi top order is also gonna be a big factor imo.

Talking of bowlers..Jerome Taylor has resumed training for Jamaica..says he's 85% back to fitness..really pray he has a good first class season because him, Roach and Rampaul is a serious attack.

wanted to see some more of Milne but that's probably our strongest team. Bat all the way and some good bowling options.

Happy we lost the toss to be honest since McCullum always bowls first. Keen as mustard to see this batting line-up, strongest I've seen for donkey's years.. Thought Munro was a little unlucky to miss out given he was the form short-form player in SL & Bang, then again who do you leave out instead.

I hope Ryder plays his natural game i.e. not trying to hit everything and just enjoy batting and putting away the balls that are there to hit, NOT what Ian Smith thinks is his natural game.

You'd say that Watling, Anderson and Williamson weren't consistent...?

That edge down to third man, as illustrated by the hotspot, shows me that Guptill still has that same technical deficiency in playing well in front of his body rather than letting the ball come to him. Looks exactly the same.

Can already see how much better Holder and Rampaul are tbh. Immediately hitting a good length with a bit of swing. Our selectors are so friggin stupid.

they can actually present the seam so that the ball will swing or seam

So glad we did away with that whole Boxing Day test nonsense so that the NZC could cash in on massive Auckland crowds like this one.

Ha! Indeed I realise that's not saying much as Best and Gabriel were that poor. But almost any fan could have told you that Holder would be pretty effective in New Zealand conditions, so just how dumb are Clyde Butts and co?

Top bowling from Ravi here. I'll try not to watch this entire ODI series saying I told you so to our selectors....but it's going to be difficult if it continues like this!

yeah Holder would've been a great option for the Wellington pitch and Rampaul is just miles better as a bowler than any of the other Windies' test bowlers that played.
