Azhar should be opening IMO. I've been saying it for ages. Given your struggle to find openers, the fact that you have a domestic opener with a reasonable technique and a decent Test record batting #3 just seems ridiculous; you've have lots of potentially good even if unproven middle order options for a while.Have a feeling they might go with Hafeez and Shehzad as openers in the test as they have shown good form in this series. Manzoor has been injured while Shan has been preety inconsistent this season for his side also if Azhar fails in the first test then we might see Sohaib getting drafted in to the test side.
Kaushal Silva in as an opener as Dilshan's potential replacement means there's a decent chance of Sri Lanka going into the Test with four good wicket keepers. He's not such a bad ODI player.
The SL test squad has been announced, Prassanna J back in thank god and Senanayake also looking likely to make a test debut and bowl alongside Herath, which will be interesting. The fast bowling attack looks pretty ****ty as per usual and but we'll see. Both sides have unproven and inexperienced openers as well, big series for both pairs.

Lol, pretty annoying as well, especially with Kusal Perera also in the background, I see Chandimal and Silva becoming specialist batsmen in the future but once Prasanna is gone who will be the one who keeps?Kaushal Silva in as an opener as Dilshan's potential replacement means there's a decent chance of Sri Lanka going into the Test with four good wicket keepers.
Neither, they might be giving that random left armer some experience on an international tour for mentoring rather than playing him thoughHave to say, I don't get the thought process of how Sri Lanka pick their fast bowlers.

I don't see Asad having a very high ceiling an avg of 40 is probably the max he can achieve. I rate him higher then Azhar as a middle order bat but Azhar's advantage is he can open and could possibly the best opener we can get. I would like to see Haris in the test line up has a gun FC record possibly second to Fawad. Maqsood also could be a good addition especially since the test batting line up is so one paced Sohaib can shake things up.Asad Shafiq not a lock for you?
