I'm really disappointed WI didn't put up more of a show. Leaves us worryingly short of competitive match practice ahead of the India tour.

**** off David White. Ross was almost lost to the game because of your bull****. Can't believe that numpty is still in the job.

Congratulations guys, enjoy yourselves. New Zealand outplayed us comprehensively from start to finish. This was a very important tour for both sides and you did the business so well played.

Agree, the Windies can thank their lucky stars it wasn't 3 - zip.

Happy days, nonetheless

Don't be too harsh on Darlingface guys. Look at this ripper
This series will provide a perfect indicator as to whether or not that is the case.

I'm gonna go against type and pick NZ to win the series 2-0.
But then he talked too much and ruined it...
For the record, my 2-0 scoreline prediction involves 2 narrow wins and a draw where WI dominate before rain intervenes. I agree that WI are a very good side and that I'm probably being ridiculous, especially now that Kane is likely to miss the first 2 tests.

West Indies
Edwards: 5.5/10
Looked a bit more solid than his average of 26 suggests, and scored 2 half centuries, but still failed. Dropped Taylor in Wellington.

Powell: 3/10
The opening partnership was actually a strength for the West Indies, but Powell failed to even reach 50 once.

Bravo: 7.5/10
Purely for his match-saving double hundred. Did nothing else but that innings still gets him a tick.

Samuels: 4/10
Looks mentally shot. One streaky fifty for an average of 19.5, along with poor fielding and body language.

Chanderpaul: 7/10
A nice hundred and a threatening fifty, but he did get out to some poor shots. Still averaged 64.

Deonarine: 4/10
Is not a test match number six. Batted well with Bravo in the first test and bowled well, but he flattered to deceive and was never a genuine batting threat

Ramdin: 6/10
He had a great final test in which he actually looked interested and motivated, but he was very poor in the first two tests. Still managed to be West Indies' third best runscorer.

Sammy: 6/10
The fact that he was West Indies' second highest wicket taker and 4th highest run getter justifies his selection. He was also superb in the field.

Sunil Narine: 8/10
Hard not to give him a high score even if he only played the final test

Tino Best: 4/10
Tried hard. Not able to land the ball in the right areas enough. Not enough movement of the ball. Not an opening bowler.

Shannon Gabriel: 1/10
Very, very poor. Needs to re-learn how to present the seam, because he bowls at a decent clip and would actually be threatening if he could get a bit of swing or seam

Veerasamy Permaul: 3/10
I like the look of him as a second spinner but probably a better limited overs bowler.

New Zealand

Hamish Rutherford: 4/10
Again flattered to deceive but might've done just enough to retain his spot

Peter Fulton: 4/10
two very unlucky strangles down the leg side. Managed just one fifty but generally did his job of seeing off the opening bowlers. some decent slip catches.

Kane Williamson: 6.5/10
Really needs to learn to convert his starts. Despite not getting a bit score, his 45 in Wellington in partnership with Taylor was a crucial score.

Ross Taylor: 10/10
Literally could not have done more. Didn't get out for less than a century each time he batted, and was outstanding at first slip.

Brendon McCullum: 6.5/10
A nice, if unpressured century in the first test. Gave his wicket away at crucial times in the rest of his innings when NZ could've really put pressure on the opposition.

Corey Anderson: 7/10
His bowling was a revelation and makes him very difficult to drop. His batting is progressing, but still not quite there. Very much worth persisting with.

BJ Watling: 6.5/10
Showed some grit at times but also gave it away at times. Superb with the tail in Wellington. His keeping wasn't quite as good as the very high standards he's set for himself.

Tim Southee: 8/10
Continues to dominate top order opposition batsmen. 18.11 average, 2.99, economy and a superb 36.2 strike rate.

Ish Sodhi: 3/10
Is not yet test standard and shouldn't be in the team. Showed some good potential and looks handy with the bat.

Neil Wagner: 4/10
Another failure for him after a false dawn in Bangladesh. He picked up a couple of crucial wickets, but didn't take more than 3 wickets in an innings and averaged 45.5. Worse than his average was his strike rate of 71.2 and his economy rate of 3.8. He was comprehensively outbowled by Anderson.

Trent Boult: 8.5/10
20 wickets at 15.5 is superb, but he did occasionally go missing with the ball.

Thanks Beamer. Us kiwi fans can commiserate with you as we've been in your position before. I enjoyed the insight into WI cricket that you and the other WI fans bought to this thread.

WI v NZ threads are so much more civilised than threads involving Aus/India/Eng, which are the thread equivalent of 100 angry monkeys throwing poo at each other.

Cheers BeeGee, the discussion has been great fun even if much of the cricket hasn't (for Windies fans at least). Haha,,if you want to see an uncivilised cricket board thread check out anything on caribbeancricket.com which talks about Darren Sammy as captain. It immediately becomes small islanders versus the rest of the Caribbean and it isn't for the faint hearted.

This is major Ghambiring, IMO. Yeah, Kane's a bit of a loss, but Brownlie's a decent player and if we play Vettori we bat pretty deep.

WIndies haven't picked a single pace bowler that's going to trouble the batsmen. This is going to be a thrashing.
It was, fwiw.

Here here - well said BeeGee. I really enjoyed contributing and reading people's thoughts from both sides through the Test series. Here's hoping it continues through the ODI series.

I'm sure the West Indies will be looking to get some pay-back in May next year in the 3 Test series in the Caribbean. Hopefully the West Indies are at full strength for it.

Another remarkable achievement that nobody else has mentioned, is that a NZ test series has come to an end and the "NZ doom and gloom" thread isn't on the first page of cricket chat threads. :-O

What a time to be alive.
