Never a good idea to go into the shell completely. Just knew Kohli would fall short. It only take 1 ball to get out, so should've scored runs freely especially in this game situation, instead of waiting for the milestone.

To score freely, either he has perform much better than the bowlers or the conditions have to provide him suit. Considering that South African attack is no slouches themselves, he had to raise his game by several notches to force the score in the current pitch.

I think they did just what they had to do. But it was time to try to accelerate. Going at 1.5/over was helping SA more than India at this point.
