Okay guys.

How many runs to declare, and what time today?

Everyone give their opinions.

Mine is 30 minutes after lunch (must have at least 450 lead). 1 hour after lunch at the absolute latest.

Same. Probably get as close to 500as possible

I would say if India get to 450, they should declare and not wait for much more. That or 10 overs past lunch, whichever comes first. I think four sessions is too little, ideally you'd have as close to five as possible, just in case the weather intervenes. Plus, it's always better to give the oppo just a little bit of a sniff.

yeah, I pretty much agree with Jono, delcare before drinks (session 2) with a lead of 450

to what extent is the whether likely to affect the match? Just a bit of light drizzle or will the play be stopped for a significant period of time? I'm too paranoid that we won't have as much time as think tommorow and so I agree that we should declare soon after lunch.

Also well played Puajra! Just bats and bats on!

Man one thing I'll treasure is seeing Pujara live in Hyderabad, because he did to Australia (albeit at home and against ****ter bowlers (lol Maxwell and Doherty)) what he is doing to South Africa here. He rode out the storm and then just ****ed **** up in the third session.

It is amazing how quickly Pujara can accelerate the run rate. Will be awesome seeing him (hopefully) doing it today as well when he get the orders to go go go.

Plus if SA are looking that good, there are ways to slow them down (and the game) so that losing with a 450 lead would be quite a feat (and quite deserved by them if SA pull it off). So I think the value you get from 450 to 500 is minimal compared to the extra time it would potentially buy you in the field.

Yeah... Love hoe he can step up a gear without looking as though he's gone into all out aggressive mode. It's such a smooth shift.

His debut innings was great too. Got an almost a run a ball 70 in a tricky chase

Also India only need 9 wkts unless the match goes right down to the wire (which is unlikely) since Morkel is injured.

Has anyone noticed that the SA commentators have been far less condescending to the Indian batsmen this match and have not just always spoken about what SA are doing right or wrong? In 2006 and 2010 I always felt like they had never seen Laxman's epic innings and whenever India did well (Jo'burg 2006 and Durban 2010) they spent most of the time talking about what SA do poorly.

They haven't nearly done that as much here. Of course they have mentioned SA's faults in bowling too short, but they have praised India plenty here. Wonder if its because they have been genuinely surprised and impressed by the young guys, as opposed to wanting to make it known that South Africa have gun batsmen just like India's fab 4/5.

Always been the biggest criticism of SA's commentators. Rather than just being **** (India's comm. team) or cheerleaders (C9), they just used to be condescending and not discuss the other team much. Hasn't been the case here.
