Heard on the radio that Bracewell has returned to Napier injured.

So likely no changes to the team provided Anderson is fit.

I think overall the ratings of the peaks are generally pretty good but how far can you read into that? Being level at 700-800 over 3-4 years is going to make you a better overall batsman than someone who spikes to 850 after 2-3 good series and then fades back to being sub 700.

Hence why Martin Crowe is generally considered to be ahead of Turner in the NZ all time batting stakes.

Was that photo taken today? Doesn't look too frightening, certainly nothing compared to what the Basin looked like a couple of days out from the test.

I can't see Ryder playing test cricket as long as McCullum/Wagner/Sodhi is in the side. McCullum is very unlikely to go back to being an opener, and we need an allrounder in the top six if we continue to play an expensive third-seamer and a leg spinner.
He will play if Vettori plays IMO. But yeah, Sodhi playing and we have to have an all rounder.

I can assure you he is, sir. He's good enough to be a six, as well. He's a batting all-rounder. He's every bit as talented as Jake Oram, who held down 5 or 6 and scored five Test hundreds. He's a slightly better bowler, hits it almost as clean, from what I know probably plays the short ball better and has the right level of confidence to make it all work.

The only thing that will hold him back is striking a balance between being a limited-overs gun and finding a Test game as well.
Yeah, this is my concern as well.

Yep. New groundsmen sounded pretty young and ingratiating to me, he was surprised by the lack of any NZC directive.

Kippax also expecting a "tune the work radio to Classic Hits, you can't go wrong with Classic Hits'' road ftr.

Hypothetical time - if Vettori was fit and Anderson still plays, would NZ be able to get away with Neesham as the 3rd seamer instead of Wagner?

Fulton, Rutherford, KW, Ross, BMac, Corey J, Watling, Vettori, Neesham, Southee, Boult

How is jesse ryder going to be fitted back into the test side, which he will have to be, will anderson be the one to drop or one of the openers ? the obvious one is the captain !! but that's not going to happen is it ?
I don’t even know if Jesse will be back in the ODI squad,

On the radio today Hesson wouldn’t be drawn in but said firstly that the team is selected and squad is announced tomorrow

But added “that there are a couple of guys that they wont consider cause they have minor things required, that I cant talk about now”

Than Wilson directly asked “is he satisfied that everything [that Jesse] is doing both on and off the pitch fits what [Hesson] is looking for in BC”

Hesson did not answer the question

Anyway here is the interview listen from the 6min mark.

Mike Hesson - AudioMedia - LiveSPORT

Make up your own minds

I will be pissed if they don't as I was really looking forward to watching him at Eden Park.

No real point to fielding that team. Neesham isn't the third best seamer and with Vettori in the team we don't need another allrounder at number 9.

Lets wait for the squad before hitting up Conspiracy Alley yeah (says the pot to the kettle)?

They may well be implying Devcich is sitting out for all we know/pray.

The squad I'd pick:

1. Martin Guptill
2. Jesse Ryder
3. Kane Williamson
4. Ross Taylor
5. Brendon McCullum
6. Corey Anderson
7. Luke Ronchi+
8. Nathan McCullum
9. Kyle Mills
10. Tim Southee
11. Mitchell McClenaghan

12. BJ Watling
13. Jimmy Neesham
14. Matt Henry (Milne's been ordinary). Benett was a useful ODI bowler a few years ago as well, so he could be an option.
15. Tom Latham

This, but Watling in for Ronchi. Not particularly fussed on the reserve seamer either.
