And proper respect to Stokes. That's a fantastic knock. Sure there wasn't much to lose in the context of the match, but fmd he's a young fella second up, playing for his immediate future in a Test side. Got a lot about him. Hope they find a way to stick solid with the kid.

Stokes had to get out sooner or later after so many close shaves today. He had been taking too many risks. Excellent innings though.

Well, you've got pretty high standards if you think Harris, Siddle and Johnson haven't bowled well this morning tbh. There's been plenty of plays and misses, a couple of balls spooned up which landed in gaps etc etc. Not detracting from England whose batting this morning has been great, but if the bowlers continue to do that but the ball doesn't bounce their way, it's hardly poor bowling, is it? You produce balls which create chances/ cause mistakes. That doesn't automatically mean the chances go to hand or the mistakes are fatal.
Well as an Australian I have had to put up with 8 absolute shocker years where hardly a series has gone our way. Had to put up with dozens of weak kneed batting collapses and watching just about every batting side on earth put our bowlers to the sword, yes I know, under Steve Waugh we were blessed and probably spoiled, but lets face it, Waugh has set the standard for true greatness of a team, I didn't set the standard.

Sure, but Jacques Rudolh batted for nearly two days to draw a game here against McGrath and Warne. They didn't choke, and they were great bowlers. He just batted brilliantly. it can happen.

I am sure they will but in the long run it is up to Stokes to say "there you go, you just have to keep picking me. Selectors have very very short memories, they even tried to push Waugh out of the game for his last three years (scandalous for sure).

Well I am sure when Bradman played it was the norm but that is hardly normal anymore.

These two to block through to tea please. I have to go to work and would quite like us to be batting past the point the radio gets put away in work (8am, so 2hrs 30 from here). If I have to deal with the news we've lost the Ashes while I'm stacking shelves then there'll be hell to pay.
