Trying to figure what the noise actually was, wasn't the snicko a bit out of sync on the Smith one this morning as well (and he clearly hit it)?

What a bloody awful decision... and the worst part is you knew from the word go Hill would keep it as out.

There is nothing wrong with the technology or the rules of the system in this instance, only the dumbass in control of it.

To be totally fair, there is no chance that noise is anything but a nick but he still clearly missed it. Protocol failure IMO.
Not necessarily. They don't just repeat the audio, it's had some signal processing and we've no idea what they've used. The chance of a sharp peak in the graph after processing is absolutely possible.

Yeah it was. It happens a lot with snicko. It must just be a synchonisation issue, or just a natural delay from the technology

Why are people blaming Udrs? Without it Root would still be out. It's the umpires not impelementing it properly which is the problem.

There's never been an edge with such a flat response on snicko. It wasn't an edge showing up.

It's not the fault of DRS. DRS showed us, through many different replays and forms of technology, that he didn't hit it. It was the umpire that ****ed up. Not to mention if DRS didn't exist he'd still be out.

Hopefully by the time the next Ashes series rolls around in 2015, the ECB and Cricket Australia will have agreed that so called neutral umpires aren't necessary and the 3 top umpires (2 standing + 3rd umpire) in the game can be used.

Cook is playing for tea now. Innings started well but some good tight bowling, a braindead shot from Carbs and a bad decision and we are right up against it now.

Yeah, I mean that if there was an actual on-field noise - and there was, we could all hear it - it's hard to justify it being anything other than bat on ball given the gap between bat and pad. (But it's hard to justify it being anything, tbh)
