*Official* Third Test at the WACA

If we can get the scores level after the 1st innings that would be a minor miracle, however I would feel we'd be in with an above average chance then. Aussies due a collapse.
It won't be easy but not a minor miracle either. Aussie fast bowlers won't enjoy bowling in the repressive heat forecast for the next two days that's for sure. Glenn McGrath reckons this pitch is a lot slower than a typical Perth deck so we're a chance to post a good score here with the right application from the batsmen.

You need wickets first. It's already a lot of runs based on your top orders performance but if Smith and the tail take it to 450 plus then your ****ed. Proper ****ed.

Well, none. I suppose though in theory you could argue Root/KP/Prior may have better morale after hitting a few. That's as far as I'd go though.

That's the important aspect. Cricket is a confidence game and KP and Prior both needed the runs. It will also have created some doubts in Johnson's mind now he's seen England's top order get back to playing him properly. All the pressure is on Mitch because everyone expects him to blow England away again in this test match. Let's see if he handle the expectancy or if goes back to bowling to the left, bowling to the right... :)

Look, this test really starts when Australia starts bowling, regardless of how many they get from here on*. I think 350 is par, not because it's a terribly bad deck or anything, but because it's just so alien to anything else anyone plays on. How England adapts to it decides it.

*obviously if Aus somehow makes 550 England is ****ed, but you catch my drift.

Not to mention how tired he might be if he blazes 140* in the first session and a bit today If that's the case, advantage England!

Wait a minute, because you don't agree with his post, it's "awful posting" and "painful to read". Jesus!

The way newcomers are treated on here (especially by semi-literate **** stains like you) is a ****ing disgrace!

This place is like a ****ing far-right rally sometimes.

I don't agree with most of the posts I think you're referring to either but is this bit serious? Of course it has some level of relevance, even if that level might be fairly low.

Weather is certainly a factor. Makes it all the more important that England plays a bit of an attritional game when they first bat IMO.

I dunno that the wicket is a lot slower than ones he (McGrath) bowled on in the 00s, in fact it's probably a bit quicker.

Always love the way retired players say Perth was always faster in their day. Even the blokes who've been retired only a year or two!

Really? I reckon the way he opens the face on the back foot will land him in trouble on this deck, especially if it quickens up.
Might be right there, I just think the fact he doesn't press forward might help him leave a lot whereas on other pitches it hinders him. Depends how they bowl at him I suppose. He was incredibly disciplined in Adelaide.

I apologise for my negative comments yesterday. I thought Australia was collapsing and losing the test. What I failed to realise that with 5 down, some of our best batters were still to come. 450 on the cards now. SPC a bitter pill, as he wasn't in my ton up list, but I can live with that.

I'm trying to think of which England batsmen that I've seen would do well here. Robin Smith wouldn't die wondering. Lamb would give it a go. Greig would maybe do OK. Definite theme here ....

From our home grown talent, maybe Stewart without the WK gloves and Gooch at the absolute peak of his powers. Thorpe would offer something.
Their eyesight aint what it used to be, Greig is dead.

Australia have just about a par score so far. It feels better than it is because England allowed them to escape last night when having the 5 down for 140 odd. But make no mistake this match is far from over yet.

Alistair Cook is due a big innings and he'll definitely enjoy batting on here.
Kevin Pietersen looked good in the second innings in Adelaide and will also be strong on here.
Joe Root will bat and bat and bat.
Ian Bell is the best batsmen in the world right now and it will take a real beauty to dismiss him on this road.

Further positives can be drawn from how ineffective Mitchell Johnson was in the second innings in Adelaide. England figured him out and played him very comfortably there. Couple that with his natural inconsistency and there's every reason to believe we've seen the best of Mitch for the series and England can now get on top.

Australia looked nervous batting yesterday and made heaps of mistakes. Gilly did warn that the Aussie team are not used to being in this position and could feel the pressure of being frontrunners. They definitely choked yesterday and let's see if the choking transfers to their bowling and fielding when England bat.

This series is far from over yet and I have a sneaking suspicion if we get the scores close to parity in the first innings, the Aussies will be blown away in the second dig and England can win this test match.
All the talk is about Johnson and maybe rightfully so because of his record at Perth but let's not forget Harris is the best Aussie bowler by a mile and we have not seen the best from him yet.Imagine what could happen if both Johnson and Harris fire on the same day. This is an awesome Aussie attack make no mistake about it.All the doubts should be about the Aussies top 6.

I think he is talking about the comments on Johnson which are ridiculous to be fair.
