*Official* Third Test at the WACA

Tangles

International Vice-Captain
We don't pick batsmen for 1 off tests. So no you can't have White or North back in the team.

Bushranger

School Boy/Girl Captain
don't change a winning combination ect,

Spinners can have an impact at Perth, and Lyon with his bounce is the kind of guy who could do ok, and Smith reckons he's tightened up since last playing at Perth so we'll see
After a bit more research the best 2 spinners ever at the WACA had poor averages.
Warne 36.00, Murali 112.00, Kumble 35.00, Swann - 51.00, Vettori 34.00
Just food for thought.

surprising that 17 wickets is enough to get you fourth place really.
Sure I'm missing something here but that can't be the top 4 Ashes hauls........off the top of my head where's Warnes 40 in 2005??? Must be heaps between 41 and 17.

Once you get in, it plays true. Watson will find it hard to get lbw on this track, so I'm having a sneaky bet on him. He can disappoint though.
Cook: second innings metric tonne (105) he will find the tired bowlers more to his liking. I'm banking on him winning the toss, but so far he's not been good on the toss.
Root: Quality batsman, can tough it out
Bailey: coming in at lower order will have a gleam in his eye. Will slog it out, needs a bit of luck, he does.

Other prediction: Johnson to break someone's hand, other than one of his team mates in the nets.
I'll be interested to see how Root goes playing from the crease at the WACA...

It's pretty clearly just the top 3 largest hauls and then Johnson's current progress ffs

I'm hoping for

Cook
Carberry
Rooooooot
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Prior
Bresnan
Broad
Tremlett
Anderson

Really don't know about that number six spot. Otherwise I think it's the same as Brumby's side.

I don't think the Collingwood* football team is available atm.

* I think that goes for their cheer squad as well

I absolutely hate Perth Tests. Starts too late to pull an all nighter, but too early to go to bed now and get any serious sleep before the start.

Just skip the morning session and you're all good lad

Though tomorrow night I have my Xmas party . Imagine I'll be getting in just as day two starts, which means chances are I'll see (or at least remember) none of it

Ah well

Gotta play a specialist bat at 6 here so I'm leaning towards Ballance..........just still don't know if it's right to debut someone at Perth in this situation???

Sportsbet representative Matthew Campbell said on radio this morning they are now paying out on all bets made up until yesterday for Australia to win the series.
If Majestic Prince doesn't bring home the bickies in this one, well my missus and kids could be singing for their supper tonight

Bairstow is the only alternative really. Unless we do play Swann in which case I guess Stokes gets another go.

I really wouldn't go with Swann here though.

Got such a love hate relationship with the Perth test. Timing is so horrible as I always prefer to stay up rather than get up (especially now I'm on Christmas break) and it's just so tough - will clock over 30 hours of constant awake time if I make it till stumps. But it's probably my favourite test in the world in terms of the actual cricket, and I'm gutted there won't be one next year (especially as it's India ) even though I probably wouldn't have seen much of it anyway.

In terms of the match itself, I'm really not expecting much, so will probably just be satisfied with a bit of fight and some good cricket.

Tough yards if you play four quicks and no Swann with the forecast as it is. It's a gamble either way I suppose. The quicks could easily do a number on our blokes but if they don't it'll be very hard going in those conditions.

Have to throw the ball to Root and KP I guess. Just can't see Swann doing anything here
