Yeah the game is in there. I'm on holiday wireless rates from today, but I did have a look at Hay's squarish wagon wheel for a laugh. Three cover drives too, itbt.

Watching Hay now. Initial thoughts:
-Nice stance
-Martin Crowe will not like that backlift. Not sure I like it either.
-Good wrists, especially through midwicket.
-Can drive when he feels like it
-Good footwork thus far
-Completely took the piss out of Bates with that open face almost one day cricket shot to the offside boundary somewhere behind square. Almost Jesse-esque
-Has a lot of time
-That is seriously a Daniel Flynn mk I backlift
-If he batted like this in 2008, he should have gone to England ahead of Marshall.

edit: I know where I've seen that now. Hay almost has a Cachopa backlift. He's the fourth Cachopa!

First 5-for in FC cricket for Neesham. Although match situation sounded more like a LO game - in which form he has always bagged plenty of wickets.

(Don't get me wrong, I like his red ball bowling from what I have seen in vault last season, excellent 3rd/4th seamer back of a length stuff)

Maybe. In his final season before being given the flick he averaged 26 across 5 games but still managed a ton when following on against Canterbury mid-season. He got a duck in his next game and was then dropped for Jacob Oram. Considering Worker was in the team at number three (Murali Vijay had a brief stint with us) and not batting well at the time it was a brutal dropping.

edit: looking through Oram only played one game and then our 5-6-7 for Auckland was KNB, Griggs, Thompson. That's pretty light on batting...

After 3 games Papps, Ryder, Raval and Michael Bracewell are sitting pretty at the top of the run charts. Redmond in 5th but hurt by only having two games due to his test. Pollard, Murdoch and Young are hovering and Guptill, Watling and Latham have done quite well despite less opportunities to bat.

Bennett and Tastle lead the wickets. Wellington have 3-5 booked but the averages are terrible. Our test bowlers and Vettori have the best averages, followed by the Canterbury duo. CD have been disappointing early on.

Yeah, I noticed how prominent Southee, Boult, Wagner, Vetorri were when sorted by average. Which I think is a good thing.

Delighted for Bennett to see him currently top of the wicket takers.

Probably only fair Papps is injured this week given Redmond is on Test duty, eh Bahnz.
Or he could just casually score 227 runs without being dismissed despite being injured and despite coming out at nine in the first innings

WAG.

And to top it off, Wellington still lost. Beautiful.

Best thing though.. HAY! So keen to get into the vault and have a look.

Seriously Papps, ffs...

On the bright side, how good is it to see Ryder actually playing a sensible long form innings?

Raval got out to the weirdest shot off Milne. The ball to Craig Chops was the goods though.
Yeah, I'm not sure I like his setup for the cut shot at all. Seems to get very flat footed, and he almost appears to lose his ballance leaning over towards the ball as he plays it.

Pleased to see Bennett is able to handle a decent workload.

Wizards go top of Plunket Shield after thriller | Stuff.co.nz

the bowlers toiling hard on what wasn't an easy pitch to take wickets, with spinners Todd Astle (3-122) and Tim Johnston (2-72) doing most of the work and Hamish Bennett earning a special mention from Stead.

With 14 wickets, Bennett leads the Plunket Shield standings, one wicket ahead of Astle.

"He got through 40 overs in the match and he wouldn't have done that for a number of years. It's great his body is standing up to that," Stead said,
