*Official* Second Test at the Adelaide Oval

It's definitely not England's day. Would probably say Australia's day if anything. Their first first five wickets have realised 273, ie an average of nearly 55. That's way above expectation even accounting for a flat pitch.

Factor in England's inability to bat and I'd say Australia are on top.

Gee we really produce some absolute duffers in the field, and they've cost us badly today. I'm sure they would have been sorted out years ago if they'd learnt their cricket in most other FC countries. Instead the Phil Tufnell fielding academy that is the CC just keeps on coming up with them.

Clarke usually makes 200 here doesn't he? Aus looking pretty good unless we have a spectacularly good first hour tomrrow and our top five actually show up.
Look on the bright side. Swann snared one most people would have dropped. Works both ways.

Can't agree that Aus are looking particularly good, nor are they in bad shape. Both teams will be thinking that there's a fair chance of getting on top. We've a still fairly new nut, Haddin looks ropey (though obviously we can't set too much stall by that given when he came in), couple of early poles and we're right in it.

Obviously it then is up to our top five to actually put some runs on the board. KP loves it here; I'm putting my faith in him.

Think this is a bit harsh as England's fielding has in general has been pretty good in the recent past.

Obviously Carberry's drop today was a shocker though and despite what Warne said he has shelled a fair few now in my limited watching of his fielding which isn't encouraging.

Well just woken up. Damage doesn't look to bad, 5 down with the run rate under control. Dropped chances are disappointing though. Seems pretty even match so far?

Some English reporter just asked the stupidest question in the press conference.

Asked Rogers if what CA posted on twitter is/was a distraction.

a) It's against ICC regulations for players to have phones or anything like that during play, and
b) Rogers isn't on twitter.

Rogers just said "I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about". Reporter says "there was a picture of Monty Panesar on twitter". "Mate, I have no idea what you're talking about".

Press conference ends.

Haha, I wondered wtf he'd been asked. Looked completely bemused by the question.

Both teams should've done better really, so yeah, pretty even

England may rue the dropped catches as this pitch doesn't look great but next couple of sessions will reveal more

Cannot believe that an Australian curator would think that it is a good idea to remove all moisture from a pitch to ensure more wickets are taken by spinners

Talk about doctoring a pitch in favour of the opposition

I'd say he just made the decision in the hope of ensuring a result rather than taking into account the teams playing. He'd have wanted to stay true to what Adelaide pitches are known for, and that is roady road for the first three days and some turn later on
